As far as I know, the United Kingdom, had no commoner Queen Consort except for Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mom who died in 2002, but she was not really a commoner by birth because she was a well-raised aristocrat from Scotland as daughter of the 14th Earl of Strathmore and had large estates.
The scandalous voluntary abdication of Edward VIII in 1936 was attributed to his wrong choice of a wife, Wallis Simpson was not only a divorce woman but a commoner with no aristocratic background, because it was dimmed acceptable to the British people and the Empire, he was advised to step down. In 1971, Lord Mountbatten warned Prince Charles not to take Camilla Shand as his wife because she is a commoner and not in line to the standard of the royal family to produce royal children, so Camilla married Andrew Parker Bowles.
Now, as Prince William continually dating Kate Middleton who resembled Camilla Parker Bowles in terms of background, will the second in line to the throne follow the royal family standard and uphold the sanctity and mystic of the crown?or he will go for his choice even if it's not acceptable and suitable for their standard.
