It's a mantra of liberalism... It's supposed to be liberalism's motto on how we should all treat people who are different from ourselves.
I notice though, the mantra doesn't seem to apply to people whose differences include any of the list of people deemed "undeserving" of peace, love and understanding. In fact, it's ok to mistreat, hate and spread rumors about the people on that list.

This is why I disassociate myself with the so called liberals of today. I'm not sure what they are but by definition they are not liberals.

Do you mean liberals as in Libertarian? You don't sound like a Liberal to me at all and Libertarians are generally closer to conservatives. Liberals and Libertarians by today's definition or indeed night and day. Curious how do you define yourself? Libertarians like Sean Penn I really appreciate. They know better that the government is not the answer. Liberals think government is the answer.

I follow most closely with the original ideals of Laissez-faire Liberalism.

This is a general human flaw that has always been with us and has nothing to do with liberal or conservative. There has never been and likely never will be peace love and understanding over ther entire world. Humans seem to be wired to make it virtually impossible. Perhaps you are saying that "conservatives" do not want peace love and understanding?

I know many aloof conservatives who will not listen to opinions of others and are not accepting of those outside their ranks. I don't think today's progressives are that similar to the 60's generation of liberals. Many younger liberals make no bones about their lack of inclusiveness when it comes to those with a more conservative world view.

you sure seem to have a warped view of all us americans. I dont'
even really know what the hell liberalism means. but yes I and
a lot of my friends like peace, we want to love and be loved, and
understand and be understood. Is liberalism a bad word? A mantra'
oh give me a break, most of my friends just want to live in peace
care for their families and enjoy life even in this terrible economy
that has robbed people of jobs, and their homes. And as for this
so called list of people who are undeserving, what the hell is'
that all about.I do not have any such a list. I do not wish
'badly of anyone. if you are a fellow american I am appalled.

I'm not assigning the term "liberal" to anyone, I'm simply using the term people use to describe themselves.
If you think they don't act like this, try wearing a Sarah Palin t-shirt into pretty much any local liberal hang out in your area. Try going to liberal stronghold cities like Madison, WI with a conservative bumper sticker. You'll see how "peaceful" and "loving" liberalism can be.
btw, I know that not all liberal individuals do this. I don't usually bog my discussions down with endless disclaimers. I find that most people (including yourself) are intelligent enough to understand.

If they had any plans to help those who aren't elderly or rich, they would have written a healthcare plan that accomplishes that.
But they didn't.

hi I think I overreacted but I am so sick of all the
'political fighting here. I am a democrat and scared silly
'of even telling anyone as it seems all republicans feel'
all democrats are evil monsters out to ruin the country.
I always thought that people made up both parties, and '
that people came in all degrees of intelligence and'
stupidity . I always thought that both parties could make
colassol goofs and that neither party was always right or
wrong. I am just hoping that this new health plan finally'
comes together and actually helps people like me who are
elderly and not rich.

Unfortunately, they do. I've always considered myself liberal but this new breed I just don't understand. The liberal mindset should be that all people have a right to be heard whether you agree with them or not. Things have changed and not for the better.
Half of their ideals make no sense. Take Walmart. They want it shut down because of how they perceive Walmart pays their employees. Which would leave millions without a job. They seem to think that's a better alternative to having a job that pays. Most of them have the wrong perception in the first place. The facts don't support their claims.
As far as I'm concerned they aren't liberals at all.
