Is an iPod really worth it? :(

I just got a Philips GoGear MP4 Player for the same price as an *iPod shuffle*, and I'm still just wondering why people buy iPods at all.
Is it because of the advertising or hype? (:

well I got an Ipod touch and I really love it. I can play games, hold photos, download apps, etc. I have this one app called App Sniper that lets me know which apps went down in price or are free. I also watch videos on it. Joost has an app for the ipod touch and youtube also. So if I don't feel like sitting on my computer at night, I can get on my ipod and watch stuff until I feel really sleepy. I also listen to podcasts and read ebooks. I love reading ebooks on it because it is easier for me to read especially on the train. So when I saw it earlier this year, I fell in love and dumped my Zune lol.
I did have the ipod nano and liked how it fit in the pocket. I really think it is because of the hype when it comes to apple products like the Ipod series.

No problem boisson. Yeah I did the exact same thing when the Iphone came out. I wanted an Iphone so bad because I saw all the things it could do besides talking on it lol. But at the time I was already set in a contract with Tmobile so I sulked lol. But when I saw they came out with the Ipod touch, I used a little of money I had gotten as gifts from my wedding earlier this year and got it. This was one purchase I never regret making lol. Sure I can't use every last app that the Ipod touch can use and will have to find a wi-fi signal to use that capability but there is plenty of apps to use that doesn't require internet. Also i got the lowest one which is 8 gig and it is plenty of space for me.

Ipod is not worth it. It's only the hype, the marketing and the design. I would rather use a mobile phone for which you can call, send SMS, take a photo and listen to music at the same time. Ipod is just a waste of money I think.
