I am getting rid of the useless one.

Okay now this is kind of hard for me to do. I have loved her for many yeaqrs as she was very supportive especially in the dog days of the hot humid summers. But the spring was a bear with her. She left her little kids all over the lawn making it hard to enjoy the softness of the grass and enjoy a day just walking on my yard. This photo shows the tree I am getting rid of. This is I think a Dogwood. They leave a snow like fuzz each year as it sends it's shoots off and I and the neighbor hate it. We are splitting the cost to remove this beast. When was the last time you got rid of a useless tree or anything useless in your yard?

I can imagine.
A lot of Ash trees were tore down in South Minneaplis
as well due to ther ash borer. A shame as they lost a
few hundred in one area.

I'm always having to pull baby maple trees from my front yard and it really is a shame. I've never removed a large tree before, though. It's always sad to see a tree go but maybe you can replace it with something better?

It has been quite a few years that we had a big tree removed from the back yard. I don't know how old it was since it was here when we moved in but it started to lean really bad and it wouldn't have been much longer until it would have ended up taking about the fence which would be more costly to fix or replace the fence than it was to have the tree removed. It was some type of ash tree I think.

This tree is about 30 to 35 feet tall I'd guess. It is very annoying with the fuzz in May and thre shoots grow to be very hard and hurtful when walked upon. It HAS to go and now's the time. I had one right agaimst the roof of my garage we had removed a few years back. I miss the shade from that tree a lot in the back yard. This one won't affect shade fully as theres a few pine trees as well as you can see.

We had a tree at our last house with huge invasive roots that destroyed our driveway and dropped all sorts of debris all over it too. The neighbor hated it and was so happy when we had it chopped down and the trunk removed. We redid our driveway and put up a retaining wall and it looked so much nicer.

It IS hard to get rid of trees, and we have strict laws about whether we can cut them down or not. You need a permit, and can be prosecuted if you remove trees without permission. However, we had to remove a huge casuarina because it was becoming a nuisance. It shed millions of needles, which were an absolute menace. A few years ago we had to remove some willows, which were allegedly causing damage to our neighbour's water pipes. I think the water pipes were damaged long before we moved in - but you have to keep people happy!

Hey Grandpa Bob, it is a cottonwood. They call that white floaty stuff cotton. It isn't really of course, but that is what they call it. I had to have a Maple taken out this year. It would not quit eating my sewer lines. I will miss it, as my daughter spent lots of happy times climbing it, sitting in it. It was a stubborn tree. I cut the seedling down for about five years before I gave up and let it grow. It was huge. I have a friend who is out of work and his whole family came and cut it down. We saved about half of what it would have cost to have a tree trimmer do it.

The last useless thing I got rid of was my ex-husband.
But I love dogwoods..now those weeping willows they are a pain and I would have no problem getting rid of one of them. Come to think of it I did. It was in my last house. The neighbors were upset, it shaded their house but it just dropped branches all over my yard.

WE have some of those trees around here also. They are not in my yard though. They are on another piece of property behind our privacy fence. I would like to take them down also because it gets in the swimming pool.

Snow-like fuzz? Sounds like Cottonwood to me, Grandpa Bob. I hate those trees myself because of all the shoots that come up from seed whereever they land.

we got rid of two maples last year that were too close to the house.
not only were they a falling risk, the squirrels were using it as a super highway to jump on my roof and chew their way in.
the guy that took them down did it for free in exchange for the firewood,so it was a win-win situation

Hi there!
There was one big mango tree in our backyard that we had to cut down. It was really big and it bears fruit that we can sell. But it has grown too big that it has gotten in the way where our water tank has been placed.
The tree bears fruit and every time it's in season we sell them but it's not delicious and few neighbors like the taste and so most fruits gets rotten only cause no one in the house eats them neither.
We decided to take the tree down a few years back. It has taken so much space in the backyard extending to the laundry. Besides, there's still another mango tree in the backyard with fruits so tasty.
Ciao!

Hi GRANDPA BOB,
Nice to see you here again, its a shame you have to get rid of a tree but if you don't like it well there is nothing you can do but get rid, I love all my trees round here but we are not allowed to cut any trees down as its belong to the council, only they can cut trees down.

So far we have never cut down a tree for its uselessness. Instead, we had it cut for it's usefulness. You see we were building a house and we could definitely use the trunk as one of the posts. Its name is Acacia Auri and it is considered as hardwood. It is also resistant to termites so it's really very useful for us.

We have what I like to call "weed" trees... some call them Manitoba Maples... They grow like weeds and do nothing but produce seeds spring, summer and fall. I'm constantly pulling out the upstarts. The hibiscis trees are bad for that too, but at least they grow slowly and have pretty flowers.
