There are many people advocating fasting once in a fortnight or so, as it is said to be good for your health. Do you practise fasting often and if so, how do you do? Is it liquid fasting or total fasting where you go without water either.

Yes still there are lots of people who advocate fasting like the great Sants and Rishis. And yet we find the holy ethics of holy fasting in our relegious scriptures. Also thanks a lot for forwarding a discussion like this, I specially like to discuss such type of topics.
I used to fast some years before due to relegious reasons I persued at that time. Also I was deeply benefitted as I expected. But now-a-days I am hardly able to follow my old forgotten relegious ethics and so they are ineffectual except for a bit of inconviniences that may have taken place by natural precursors.

Hi,
Thank you for your response.
I do believe that fasting can improve your health. I have personally experienced improvement in bowel health, headache, breathing related problems. It can indirectly help in maintaining the water content in your body. It cleans our digestive system and make you feel lighter.
Our rishis have coined the term 'Upavaas' very meaningfully. Upa means nearer to. Vaas meaning staying. Upavaas means staying nearer to God, which means by staying nearer to God for a day you can abstain from food and henceforth cleanse your body and soul. It is very essential in the modern days.
