I have been having a lot of stomach problems here lately and I just wondered if anybody knows if there is a stomach vius going around. It seems like there's always something going around, though. It just goes and comes. My group leader from church called me Tuesday Night and said we weren't going to have church Wednesday Night because there has been a case of swine flu reported in the congregation. This has me very concerned. I hope nausea and diarrhea are not some of the symptoms. Is there a website I can go to that anyboy knows of where I can find out what illnesses are going on in my area, or any area, for that matter?

Now, listen, nausea and diarhea are not to be taken lightly. Don't care what or if somebody else has something, you could have something entirely different.
Get your little behind to a dr and don't waste any time doing it either.
It never hurts to be cautious.

I seem to be doing better now. I got some gatorade and some pink bismuth and they seem to help. Like I said, it goes and comes, though. I only go to the doctor as a last resort. I'm aware that it never hurts to be cautious and I'm sure you mean well. If it gets any worse, I'll go to the doctor, though. Thank you for responding and happy mylotting. Kathy.

Sounds like you are doing all the right things. Just make sure to drink lots of water too to prevent dehydration.
But,never meant to make you feel bad and I did have good intentions. Just don't get to my age and not tell young people what they should do LOL
good going tho:)

HI Kathy; oh Gosh, you said there had been a case of the swine flu
reported in your congregation I'd either go see your doctor or go
to the ER, and see for sure what is going on with you, just to be safe;
after all, you said someone else had been sick with the swine flu, that's
nothing to mess around with you know?
I've had stomach problems the last three days but I blame that on a sinus
infection aka ( nasty drainage) in my gut you know?
I really can't fight off germs, immune system is just pathetic, I keep
telling a couple of the kids that like to come over and visit that
when they are SICK...do NOT come near me but they don't understand;
now I just meet them at the door, and haven't been letting them inside here;
School started up thursday here so again I just can't be near, germified
kids or adults you know?
I hope you get to feeling better and find out for sure what it is you have;
keep an eye on your fever if you run one?
take care!

HI Kathy;
aaaahhh!! Those wonderful "nerves" we all have that make our guts go
into disarray ....sounds like me, I blame my family for 99.9% of mine LOL!
so how are you today then? Any better?
certain foods we eat too of course effect us too, I've had to quit eating a lot
of my favorite "greasy foods" over the years, of course I do backslide on some of them
once in awhile, but I know I'm gonna "Pay for it too"...LOL!
you take care now and I hope it eases up for you;
{{hugs}}

Hi Jan! I went to the doctor Monday and she (I go to a woman doctor) said there is a virus going around. She also said that I had a urinary tract infection. Both of my sisters and I are prone to get UTIs a lot. Anyway, the doctor said that my stomach problems could either be due to the virus or the UTI. She prescribed some medicine for me for both problems. She prescribed Ciprofloxacin, which is an antibiotic, for my UTI and Phenergan for my stomach. I seem to be doing better but I know it's going to take some time. Antibiotics can sure make you feel bad until your body gets adjusted to them.
I went to church tonight and the little boy who had swine flu was there. He said he was doing okay. Also, they said there were two more cases reported. The guy who did the announcements didn't say who they were. He just announced who was out sick. I'm going to start taking extra precautions such as washing my hands more often and wiping down the bars on the grocery carts at the grocery store. It pays to be cautious, I think. Kathy.

Hi Jan! I seem to be doing better but like I said, it goes and comes. I got some gatorade and some pink bismuth (the generic brand of Pepto Bismol) and they seem to help. I haven't had any fever. If it gets any worse, I will go to the doctor. I only go to the doctor as a last resort. I have bad sinuses, too, and sometimes my stomach problems can be blamed on them. I have a nervous stomach, anyway. Kathy.

Hi Kathy, I have also been having stomach problems lately!
I don't know what is going on either! My girlfriend said
that she and her family have also been sick and I haven't
even seen her or been anywhere near where she's been! So
there are always strange "bugs" travelling around that we
don't always hear about. I would suggest that you contact
you doctor's office if you are really concerned and ask
them. They will be able to tell you what is going on in your
area from the patients that they have seen. Don't worry!
I don't think those are swine flu symptoms! You would have
to also have a very high fever!

I haven't had any fever and I'm thankful for that. If I get any worse, I will go to the doctor. In the meantime, I might call them Monday and find out what's going on. Thank you for responding. Kathy.

Unless you begin to feel feverish and achey, I wouldn't worry about it being the Swine Flu too much. It could be something that you ate or drank, or it could just be a phase your body is going through. Once in a while, about once a month, I go through a few dats where I have a horrible case of diarrhea which also seems to cause my stomach to feel nauseated. For me, to go through it once in a while is pretty normal, but if it gets more frequent, I begin to look at what I have eaten or drinken in the previous 24 hours.
If you are really concerned about what could be going on, you may give oyur docotr's office a call and ask the receptioninst if there is a stomach virus going around or anything like that. Just explain your situation and I am sure you will be lead in the right direction.

The person who was diagnosed with swine flu at church was a little 12 year old boy. I went to church Sunday Night and they said he was doing better and recuperating at home now. Kathy.

I think that with swine fly you have a fever. However it is so easy to pick up germs in the summer. The main culprit is the hand bars on shopping trolleys that we use in supermarkets. These are so full of germs. You need to wipe the bar before pushing or sanitize your hands after using. If you get a fever then you must go to a doctor. Please take care of yourself and let us know how you are doing.

Hi cynthiann! I seem to be doing well now. Thank you for responding. I haven't had any fever. I'm still as active as I always have been. They're saying in our local newspaper that Walker County, which is the county I live in, that we're not swine flu free now. It's been reported in the schools and they're telling kids to not go to school if they have any symptoms. Thye're also telling everybody to keep washing your hands. As for wiping the bars down on grocery carts, I haven't been doing this but I'm going to start. I got some gatorade and that seems to be helping. Kathy.

I hope you are feeling better by now...luckily we dont have any stomache things going around here but my son was sick all last week with a head cold and he is finally better, but for the most part of the week he was sleeping and had a slight fever and mostly his pain was in his ears.
I am glad that if he was going to get sick it was now, since school starts in 2 wks.
I know there are many places you can look up to see symptons of the swine flu, but I hope for you it isnt that bad. Take care.
happy mylotting.

I seem be doing better. However, I'm still having problems off and on. Right now, I'm pretty nauseated. I finally got an appointment with my doctor today at 3:20 so I'll see what she says. The person that had swine flu at church is a little 12 year old boy. He's doing better and is recuperating at home now. I'm glad to know that your son is doing better. Thank you for responding and happy mylotting. Kathy.

If I were you I would phone a doctor or hospital and tell them of your symptoms. Over here in the UK, they are asking us not to go to our doctor or hospital if we suspect swing flu so that we don't spread it around to others. They can give advice on the phone and even get the necessary medicines to us through a friend or a neighbor.
They are saying that if it's mild, the best thing is just to get yourself off to bed for a few days and take paracetamol.

Hi derek_a! The last time I called my hospital for medical advice, which was several years ago, they told me they weren't allowed to give out medical advice over the phone any more.
I seem to be feeling better right now. Like I said in my discussion, it goes and comes, though. I got some Pink Bismuth (the generic brand of Pepto Bismol) and gatorade and they sem to help.
