as a mom of 3 i can say every child climbs. my best advise is to try to teach them that even though they cant climb ALL the time you can set aside some time for them to do it. its not hard. we use couch cushions thick blankets, pillows. everyday we set it up for like an hour. its different every day (sometimes he can climb into the chair and "slide" down a cushion to the floor) it helps tire him out, feeds that need to explore and climb, and he isnt easily going to get hurt.
good luck i hope this helps

you both had such great responses...I want to give you both the best response..I really wish they would let me. My son wasn't a major climber, not after he fell over the baby gate before he could walk and got a black eye. My daughter has climbed on her dresser, the kitchen table, the top of the couch, already out of her crib. And all of this before she turned 13 months. She's gonna be my heart attack giver..lol.
She can also climb up the ladder on her slide and slide down..eeek

HI! I have a 22 month old daughter and she climbs on absouletly everything...lol. So I know what your dealing with. What I have been doing is trying to distract her away from climbing as soon as so goes to do it. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. The best thing I would say is distraction and try to explain to her that she will get hurt. At that age my daugher didn't really undertand that, but now she does. Just keep on saying no when she does it and then distract her with a book or with some toys. Now, if my daughter climbs on something and I ask her to get down, if she doesn't by my third warning I will sit here in a timeout for 1 and a half min and that usually works well. I hope that I was of some help to you. Have a great day!
