Why can't Hollywood come up with another such enduring "Brand Phrase"? It has caught the fancy of three generations and will certainly do so in future also. What is the magic about it? Why do you think it survived? Is there an another phrase which also is popular?

Hi webearn99, I thought about the same "Brand Phrase". The background music of these movies too are unmistakable. Well the magic about Bond would be of course the savue sophistication, combined with a couple of beautiful girls (with less clothes to show). However, I think Bond movies also became the first to introduce an entire generation to electronic gadgetry and cars that were so fascinating. It is never the main part of any Bond film, I know. But it is inseparable part! Most men like electrical and electronic goods and cars. The period when such things really took off coincided with the period when Ian Fleming's books came into market. So Bond has become a symbol of all that craze. Knight Rider is another television serial that came up for similar reasons. But by the time it came, we had already set our minds loose in several direction and everything seems so plausible that we were no longer astounded with it, as we were when James Bond made an appearance. That to me could be the reason for Bond's success and in process the phrase. I do however think that Bond's popularity is waning. Harry Potter could be the next big thing. :-)

I hope Harry Potter does well, but with adult population would it be anybody's guess?

James Bond actually is written by a British author named Ian Fleming. He is no more. It got popularity because of Sean Connery its hero. Now too it is popular with other heroes, but not that much. So there were many factors. Author, hero and photography with classic direction all such things add up. Hollywood came up with Rambo series which they could have continued if not for its aging hero Sylvester Stallone.
