Are those eco friendly light bulbs really worth it?

It's worth it if your main concern is reducing energy use, I suppose. The up and coming type of light bulbs are LEDs which don't need mercury. They can be expensive right now, but last a long time and I bet they'll get cheaper and cheaper over time. I think they're the ones to go for if you find a good deal; you could bypass CFLs altogether and go straight from incandescent to LEDs!

It's very upsetting and you don't know what to think. First they tell you it's bad to have regular light bulbs because they waste electricity, and fill up land fills. Then they tell you after you buy a bunch of the energy savers that they're full of mercury. You don't know what to believe or whom to trust. I suppose if we went back to candles, that's poluting, too. Phosphorus? Expose it to light all day and use it at night? Solar lights? Expose them to light and use them at night? Phosphorus is supposed to polute water. Water do solar cells polute? It's all very discouraging.
