Yes he did it again Mylot, My son has managed to yet again brake another damn bone. This time he broke two fingers on his left hand. which just so happens to be the hand he writes with. Of course he was playing football. I told him he is going to have to find another sport to play, but he said football is his passion. I don't want to take his passion away, but I am so scared of him getting hurt yet again. I do i support him playing football if he keeps braking his bones??? Please help

I am very sorry to hear that. I know that sure is a dangerous sport to play. We have had all kinds of injuries at our local high school over the years with that sport. I know he likes the game, but it is so hard to be supportive when it is so dangerous for them. I know it has to be hard for you.

it is hard for me. He is a great kid and he is really good at the sport. but i so don't want him to hurt himself to the point he can't fix it or come back from it

Well, other than pray, it would be hard to tell your son not to play! They are at the age where they are full of energy. And not allowing him to play will only cause resentment. Counsel him about the pain you feel when he hurts himself. And the consequences of injuries that are serious enough to ruin lives that happen in football. Make him understand that playing football is one thing. Trying to over do it to the point he is constantly hurting himself is another!

ha ha ha ha ha... basketball will also be rough depending on how the players want to play it. But in terms of physical contact, maybe it would be lesser compared to football. I wish you and your son all the best as well!

I hate to say this but that's a typical boy for ya! lol When I was a kid, my oldest brother was constantly breaking his ankle or some other bone. My parents were constantly having to take him to the hospital for another broken bone and yes, all from playing sports at school. My brother would continue to play even with a cast on and broke the casts! The doctor put another on him and made it much harder to break but my brother managed to break them too. Oh what a mess my parents were in when dealing with him and all his broken bones. lol

Maybe he should play flag football. He can't play regular football with broken bones so you aren't the one taking the passion away from him. Is he accident prone or is this something the coach thinks will stop? If he's breaking bones because of something he is doing maybe he can correct it. If he is breaking bones because of someone else then there is not much that can be done unless the other person leaves the team.

I can understand that. What does the coach say when this happens? Is there a lot of other kids that are getting breaks? Seriously, if he sits out with breaks all the time, he really isn't playing anyway.
