Very sad of it. Some times they get also. My Sister-in-law was sleeping in the first floor flat in chennai. Since very hot, she kept open terrace door and was sleeping in the passage. Her chain was snatched. She did not even complain as no male support since she is a widow, and after almost 6 months, the thief was caught and he told where all he snatched chains. She got it back. In the same way we lost our cycle from the garage, we did not complain as my husband was on transfer. After one year, I got my cycle back, in the same way, thief was caught.

Is there any good way to identify the piece? Like an engraving or something? That will make it easier? OF course the thieves will probably sell it to somebody who will melt it and that will be that. Sad...

nope its gone. there's no way to really tell if its their chain or not should the police find the people. stop wearing jewelry in bad areas.

that is a very good thing you did.
you helped them report the crime. let us hope they get back their gold. but why is she wearing very expensive jewelry at night?
there are too many crimes going on at night so everyone has to be careful.
thank you for this discussion.

Hello Yugasini, I have also met with a similar
situation. The chain snatched did it so
forcefully that my neck portion received a deep cut.
To say something very sincerely I do not think the police
will be very helpful in getting your chain back for you. Someitmes
I doubt these thieves have a protection by police . It is only a doubt. May not be true also.
Have a nice day

Hi yugasini,
Really sad and bad what happened to your brothers daughter. This even happened for my mother and Aunt. Really worse. They both never got back. don't think i am discouraging. just telling the fact what happened. Your relations may get definitely if police catched them soon!
in past few months, chain snatching incidents, happening often. Usually chain snatching incidents take place on long wide straight road.
Even be cautious about mobile snatching!
Being alert citizen is the best thing.
