They didn't say I couldn't...

I was at one of these management training team building thingies. They had us do this exercise. We were split up into several teams. One person on each team had to be blindfolded. The object was for the blindfolded person to, using wooden blocks, build the tallest tower. The team members who weren't blindfolded were to give the blindfolded person directions. Well I was the person with the blindfold. Always ready to seek out and exploit technicalities, I zoned in on the fact that they had never actually said during the instructions that peeking wasn't allowed. Um so yeah while my teammates gave me directions on where to place the blocks, I was peeking through a wee crack and making sure that my blocks were placed so that they wouldn't fall down, while doing it in such a way that nobody could tell that I was peeking. Surprise! We won! Was that cheating or just thinking outside the box?

I don't cheat - that's the truth. I always win - not totally the truth. I win often unless everybody else conspires to gang up on me!

Team work is of very high importance in most endeavours - and so is initiative.
In my mind, initiative comes out on top, as long as it doesn't wipe out team spirit. All the team used their initiative, as in finding ways to explain the situation to you and guide you.
The team still worked together and it was a combination of team spirit and initiative that won the day. (What song fits here?)
I see no problem, so no slap on the wrist for Dawn today.

Not unless you have a ginger brownie, thanks.
Besides, I'm still waiting for a waffle.

Hi Dawn, now go to the corner and stand there until I tell you you've had your punishment LOL! Didn't even your teammates know that you were cheating or even had an inkling that you were? But I say WTG! You are right they never actually told you NOT to peep. So you can take it then that peeping is indeed acceptable and you were obviously the only one, that could have been a pyschological test. But keep it to yourself, no one need ever know, well apart from your friends at Mylot and our lips are sealed! Right you can come out of the corner now :0)

Now I have no trouble with this one, you cheated, plain and simple and I'll be the prosecuting attorney. Intent is the measure of this law and you clearly violated it.
The blind fold was not put on you to enhance your beauty, was it? Did you not understand the purpose of the blindfold? Were you under the impression that the object of the game was to win in any manner possible? With this kind of thinking you will be in the box and thinking about it is the only outside the box you get.
Now of course I'm not saying that I wouldn't have cheated also. I hate those psycho
babble games companies put their people through.

that is thinking outside the box! they never said it is prohibited didnt they? hehehe...
i remember i also attended a training. I am sure you are familiar with Pass the Message? the objective was to get the exact message to the front. One guy was smart enough to ask, "hey... cant i just write it on paper and give it to the front direct?"
and you know what... the speaker said... You are right. I didnt say it is not allowed! hehehe

Dawn, Dawn, Dawn...
What are we going to do with you?
Seeing through the veil as though it didn't exist?
You're not just silly,
You're a brat like a lot of my friends, and who is that other person that is a brat? Oh' yeah, wipes hands on apron that Sparks has given me and identifies myself as a brat...
Some blind people see much more clearly than others...

That was cheating alright and the ultimate testament to how little you trust your workmates!
I've had to do similar exercises and one in particular involved a person closing their eyes and then falling backwards so their colleague could catch them. The be all and and all of blindfold trust tests yes? Well the lady conducting these sessions decided to use me as the person to demonstrate the "technique" with in front of everyone else, so she stood in front of me, closed her eyes and fell backwards..... As for me, I was off with the faeries somewhere and not paying attention at all. The poor lady thudded into the ground and that was the end of that!
LMAO. Seriously! I didn't live this one down for months..... I've never had much of an attention span.

I'm 100% telling the truth! I was lost in my own little world and didn't even realise that she had started to fall backwards.
I felt SO bad about it all, I really did. She wasn't hurt physically, it was only her patience and composure that took a beating! I find it funny now, but at first I was horrified!

Cheating because you weren't properly blindfolded. Reminds me of the time when I was trying to join the Army. I was given a number of "assets" with which to take a particular objective. I was given 20 men and a 8 man armored personnel carrier (APC). At the end of the exercise I was asked where I found a total of 28 men from. I said that when I had opened the rear doors of the APC I found that there were 8 men in there! Sounded OK to me.

Weeelll...No they didn’t say you couldn’t but technically you were cheating because the idea of the blindfold was so that you could not see anything...At all!
I’m glad some of your work mates found it amusing. How did you with the rest?

Oops sorry about the typo! Shouls have read "how did you do with the rest..."
Well if your work mates were fine with it, who cares, you won, that's what counts...

That is cheating at its best. Blindfold means you were not allowed to see. That is common sense my friend. LOL. But congratulations on winning my friend. I would have peeked if I could have to.

Hey they specifically stated the rules. I just interpreted them extremely literally!!!

It is cheating unintentionally as even others never see you but you continue doing it when in fact if going to have a sense, that you have been blindfolded for the purpose you see nothing..But, in your cases you manage to peak undiscovered but ever you get caught you could give your reason that the rules is not strictly explain..

I did do that, I came straight out and said that I had peeked because it wasn't stated that I couldn't!

Well, I cant say that it was cheating because they did no check if you can still see with the blind fold on. Right. So I'll have to admit that it was a nice way of thinking outside the box. It was very good of you to think of that. It was not cheating, you were just good at it.

Hey they should be grateful they have such a resourceful person on their team - points for thinking creatively and taking the initiative!
...And cheating....!
