"Groundhogs"

I was born on Groundhogs Day and really suffered comments from my friends when I was young. I was threatened every year not to go out on that day so that I wouldn't see my shadow. Living in Maine with the hard winters no one wanted winter to continue. I'm sure those born in tropical climate wouldn't have had such a problem. How many "Groundhogs" are out there and did you have the same problem?
