I was watching an Oprah rerun and I heard Brad Pitt say his family doesn't go to the mall. Wow, I said to myself, this is the malling age. He has got to brave that mall if he wants his children to see the real world. I am always at the mall for the thousand and one necessities my small family needs. Are you often at the mall, too?

Hi eileen! Yeah, I often go to the mall too. Mainly for window shopping:) But if the budget allows I do go shopping on clothes and other girly stuff:) I usually go at noon, in time for lunch coz when I go malling, I always wanna have pizza for lunch:D Hehehe! In the mall, I always find myself browsing on the clothes section, makeup, toiletries (e.g. lotion, soap, shampoo, etc), shoes, bags, and also stuffed toys:) Also, my malling isn't complete without visiting a bookstore, either to look at magazines, or check if Paulo Coelho has a new bestseller, or simply just to smell the paper, LOL:) Finally, I culminate my shopping/window shopping with a cup of coffee or fruitshake at a coffee shop or snack bar:)

I must ask first what are the works of Paulo Caoelho and why do you like his writings. Then I must say that you are a certified mall mouse, ha ha. I am glad you spend time learning about many things and relax at the same time in the mall. I am not inquisitive about brands. Sort of stick to Dove for soap, Colgate for tootspaste, Bandolino for footwear although my daughter would troop to Hush Puppies and Outland. That means actually I don't go around the mall. But I sure could do with a cup of coffee or a slice of pizza every so often. What a wonderful life!

All of a sudden, I have a list of books to peruse.. I promised a fellow mylotter that I will buy a copy of Once by Clive Barker. I am only in the 2nd chapter of God of Small Things. Very literary. Once and Future King is next. And The Fountainhead. Must reread. But okay, I will see to it that I read one in your list. Veronica Must Die sounds familiar. I think somebody asked me to criticize it four or five years ago. I just can't remember the story.

Hehehehe! Oh, Paulo Coelho is a Brazilian novelist famous for his short bestselling novels (love stories) that focus on female characters as mostly the lead in his stories. His books also have some sort of religious (as well as philosophical) meanings to it (particularly Christianity and Catholicism). His books include: The Alchemist, By The River Piedra I Sat Down And Wept, Veronika Decides To Die, Eleven Minutes, The Zahir, etc. :) You should try reading his works. It has lots of moral values that you can learn from about life and about love. :)

I hate going to the mall and go there only when absolutely necessary. I don't mind so much if its not crowded. The crowds are what gets me. Plus a bunch of kids running around not knowing how to act.

Yes I agree with you about having the kids at the mall instead of roaming the streets.

My daughter calls the kids gremlins, LOL! I also hate crowds especially if there is a rock band playing on a makeshift stage at the lobby. As much as possible, I avoid malls on weekends. But the malls had been a good venue for young people to spend time with. I'd rather see them there rather than on some dark corner in the city.

I think one of the main reasons why Brad Pitt and his family doesn't got to the mall is because they might get mobbed by hordes of fans.Brad and Angelina are one of the most popular Hollywood stars now.if ever they want to go to the mall, they want to spend time as a family.if they go out, they can't enjoy their privacy because they might get swamped by fans.it is not good, especially for their children since they can't really enjoy it.also,a lot of paparazzis will be on their faces.it gets stressful.they would rather spend their time on places where they can't really be disturbed.it is different from me,since I am not really an actress or model.I can go to the mall anytime I want and enjoy it.I don't have to worry about fans or paparazzis invading my privacy and my shopping trip.

I was thinking there might a be a mall for celebrities to visit and shop. Just like in Japan where the people shop at certain prefectures where the goods come at reasonable prices. But there is a specific eki where only the rich ply the routes. Same here in the Philippines, there are some exclusive places designed for the haves and the common tao would really feel out of place. But the paparazzi is really a peeve. You are right. For the protection of the children, they must refrain from malling.

I suppose it depends on the size of your family. I don“t buy clothes anymore so I almost never go to a mall. About 90% of my new clothes are gifts from my friends. The old ones have at least 10 years. Most of them are as good as new and I usually get compliments on my looks.

Beautiful people don't need flashy clothes. That is why people are as generous with their compliments for you. But you know, my country had constructed megamalls where people converge for meetings, dining, shopping, marketing, massage, haircut, tutorials, even dental and medical appointments. The mall is a one-stop destination for the family. I kinda like it though. At least the family is together in one place.

Yes, I too am a mall rat. I can spend hours on end just strolling around the mall. However, after a while, it can get tiring. Where as our parents had parks to congregate before, we have malls now. I see your point that malls are a microcosm of our society. But Brad Pitt and his children live in a completely different world, and malling might not be a good idea for them in case it turns to mauling.

Yes I always go to the mall as often as I can, alone or with somebody, I mean like everytime I go out then just before going home, I always passes by the nearest mall or that is on my way. I will just look around or simply buy small things that I think I will need.

That is quite practical. The mall can be very convenient for things we need. I purchase all my stuff and do my marketing at the mall.

About twice or thrice in month. I go to same mall everytime, so I know exactly where what I need is placed. It takes little more than 20 minutes to pick my monthly requirements. Thereafter I dont really c any need to hang on. I wish I had more reasons to go there - I wish it was a bigger one. But it is not. So I guess there is little of interest there that makes me almost shun it. And what can I say about Brad Pitt. He may have very valid reasons. In our country he would be mobbed with people rushing to him for autograph, and in that sort of adulation, the children could be truly lost! So our celebrities too avoid malls.

My country had become a nation of malls. We have so many restaurants with internet so the students spend as much time there multitasking - doing assignments, eating, hanging out with family and friends, and malling. Brad Pitt and family will also be devoured in my country. We are a fanatic race. But if they come here, I know that the event planners will provide them the best itinerary with the best security. Our malls are so huge Angelina could shop and prettify while the children play, LOL!

Wow... I know I'm a tad late on this discussion but do you realize how different YOU & Brad Pitt are? You cannot expect them to enjoy the same activities as you do. Just because commercialism & spending are prominent in today's society, does not mean everyone ought to view it with the same perspective as you do. Mall strolling is for those who have nothing more enjoyable to do. Perhaps this is a bit of a foreign concept for you but there are people who invest their time a lot more wisely than shopping & spending pointlessly.
