Dude,Where's My Moon Rock?!

Hi ShepherdSpy, well it sounds to me that by giving out this information on all these missing rocks it could be well inviting one of the most expensive scams ever with no doubt thousands of proven authenticated moon rocks turning up from the most dodgy countries. I really can't imagine too many dictator types being that keen on having them in the first place and would be quite happy to offload them to the highest bidder for a big wad of cash to purchase some new diamonds for his finger, or some other really necessary item that the impoverished country requires. If they'd had any sense in the first place they could have given them to a scientific collection in the countries which had them rather than to the leaders.

It sounds as though they were simply given away as goodwill trinkets by the US,when it doesn't appear there was any cataloging or documentation issued or retained..as the article says,they're of no mineral value..just the "Out of this World" "Wow" Factor..Seems they didn't expect the end of the Apollo Program to draw the line on moon exploration..

It's possible too that whoever got them may not have been good at storing or remembering things,and figuratively spesking,they could simply be down the back of some Government sofa!

It does seem odd that a Former PM of a country on Meeting the 1969 Astronauts would be given something that Wasn't a moon rock..

But at the same time,the actual gift moon rocks are mentioned as being the size of a grain of rice..the petrified wood was way bigger...

But it's mentioned also that the Former PM by that stage in his life was increasingly deaf,partially blind,and the artifact wasn't Labelled as a Moon rock..it took an analysis of it to ID it!
