social networking sites

I heard from a talk show that people who are fond of social networking sites such as facebook, friendster, multiply, and others are people who loves to promote their selves. This sites are like self-promoting sites as what I heard from the show. You tend to post the best pictures of you and make other people see it. Do you also agree with it?

Recently I have been reading the newspaper and I found out so many murders in the paper because of facebook, one has simply changed their status and one has forgotten to put their family name too so these social networks are becoming dangerous now if you cannot handle it.

That's an alarming news. I guess we have to take that as a lesson. We should always be careful on giving out our personal informations. A lot of people might use it against us. I haven't heard news like that regarding social networking sites, not until now. Some of the things I'm encountering are those who are making fraud accounts of other people pretending to be that person.
