Whose your optician? Vision Express? Specsavers? Or do you like the little guy?

This has to be a personal preference of mine but I have always gone with well known names like Vision Express or specsavers! I personally use specsavers now for my personal eye examinations! Do you prefer this or do you generally favour the small guy, an unknown optician, a small business? Does it really matter who you go to? I went to vision express over two years ago now and they recommended that I wear reading glasses! However, I recently had a checkup with specsavers and they say that I have excellent vision and don't need to wear reading glasses! Anyway, this discussion is about opticians and who you prefer. Right now I use LensCrafters because it can make your glasses in about an hour and I truly need that. My eyes are extremely sensitive to light and I wear my sunglasses about 80% of the time. If I went to another vision place to get my prescription updated on my sunglasses and had to wait a week or so for them to put in the lenses..........? I would be in true agony. So, LensCrafters is really convenient for me even though they don't take my insurance :( If this was not a factor in my decision, though, I would go to a small business. I figure this is one way of supporting them. Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

Hi Kelly, nice to see you on a lot of my discussions! That's great that you have found someone that is really helpful for you in terms of opticians. I don't wear glasses myself I just go every two years for a regular eye examination and all seems to be fine at the present time. I love reading and I think that sometimes this puts a strain on my eyes. Andrew

Hi Andrew I have always just went to a local optician. He has a good reputation and he does seem to be good. I will say that his prices on the glasses are kinda on the high side. I had taken my son to him several years back. He did need glasses but I took the prescription to wal-mart to have it filled. Much cheaper there.

Hi rosepedal, good to see you again! I don't know why this is but I have always favoured a recognised name! I see so many adverts on the television regarding specsavers and vision express and I have become used to them now. Anyhow, I know that there are probably a lot of good opticians that are quite small and I'm sure that they have an excellent reputation as well. Andrew
