The nanny staters are a bunch who can't be parodied and you can never exagerate the lengths they'll go to accomplish their totalitarian goals.
Freedom of choice is an enemy and "there outta be a law" is their creed.
First they target a freedom they don't participate in.
Then they work to create a general connection to show how it effects everyone.
Then they work to demonize anyone who participates in the targeted activity.
The take that victory and connect it to the next target they've identified....
And it all goes on and on, down and down... and freedom dies.
Medicare/medicaid lead to demonizing unhealthy activities and foods.
That lead to getting laws passed requiring seatbelts and helmets.
That lead to banning smoking in public places, while increasing the state and federal government's dependance on smoking.
That lead to demonizing fatty foods, and overweight people.
That lead to laws banning certain foods and cooking products.
That is leading to demonizing soda pop.
That will lead to bans on who can drink it and when.
That will lead to taxes on it, which will increase the government's dependancy on people drinking more of it.
That will lead to some other targeted activity that the nanny staters don't do, and don't want you to do.
Until they have their fondest dream... a state that provides them with everything the demand, with someone else paying the bill.
