What were the odds

Yes, I'm glad the weekend is over, it was nuts. Barry and I needed a new fridge and had plans to buy one Saturday. Well, we weren't given a choice! I woke so an accidental scratch, thank you Thomas the cat, that runs about 6 inches across my elbow. So I got up, fed them, visited the facilities and went to the fridge to get some juice. No light inside the fridge, hmmmm. No light in the spare bedroom when I flipped the switch, hmmm. I rouse Barry and he goes out to check the breakers. I hear this weird noise twice and see smoke coming from the fridge and yell stop, stop, stop. He came in, opened the freezer door and fills the kitchen with smoke. Soooooo, we get dressed. We pull the fridge forward to get measurements and check things out. We push it back some to keep the cats from the fridge, and drive to the shop to feed the dog and then go shopping. The first store had one that would fit the opening but they didn't stock any icemakers. Barry insisted we have an icemaker. We went 3 more places and finally found one we agreed on at Lowe's and they had icemakers in stock, not installed, but they had them. We left, went to the house, pulled the old fridge outside, cleaned the floor and hooked up the trailer. Did I mention it's raining the whole time? We go back for the fridge, the icemaker and the hookup line from the water source to the icemaker assembly. It is now pouring as we load the fridge. We get home, unload the fridge, get it inside, plug it in, and decide to go unload the old one, run one more place to check used ones because we were intending on putting the old one at the shop, and to grab a bite to eat. By the way, we got up at 8:00 and it is at this point 1:30. We don't find a used one. We stop to eat and head back to go get a few groceries. We pass buy our business on the way. There is a big red Ford truck about to pull out from our parking lot. They have the old fridge in the bed of their truck! We had placed it around the side of our shop. We stop them and they guy tells us someone said he could have it???? No, Barry informs him we own this place and had given no one permission to take it. He asks,"Do you want me to put it back?" YES! Barry calls the police, the guy takes off but I got his tag number. They put a bolo out on him. We head on to Walmart. We unload the groceries. But we need some tools that we don't have to hook up the icemaker so we go back to Lowe's. We get home, and get the line run and discover the icemaker is missing parts. We go back to Lowe's. We get home, get it installed, get the water connection made and it is now 7:30 PM. We went and grabbed a bite to eat and called it a day! Lets face it, we were blessed that it happened while we were there. We were blessed the breakers worked. We were blessed to have the money from the sale of the car. But what are the odds of that happening the day we were going to replace it anyhow????? I'm still tired and a good bit sore. I just had to share. Have a great night!

Sounds like it was a really good thing that you were home, and that you decided to check things when you did. This could have been very disasterous for sure, and I am sure you are Glad things turned out the way they did. To have an appliance in your house that does not work like it should, and having to get it working again can be a chore for sure.

what a tiring weekend!i am sure you are glad that it is over!i had a similar episode this weekend,i have allergy to mosquitoes and we do have mosquitoes at our place,so we burn mosquito repellant coil which we usually place on a cardboard.that night the cardbox somehow caught fire and i got up in the nick of time(maybe from the smoke) which prevented the caroet from burning.
