When it gets to getting older, getting drunk sucks!

Ok. I can admit it. I'm in my mid-40's. In my "younger" days, I could drink just about anybody under the table! No joke. Any kind of drinking contest, I was the one who won. People would marvel at just how much alcohol I could hold without falling down, doing something stupid or getting sick. I could sit and drink a 24 pack of beer myself in one sitting and sometimes go buy some more! I could drink nearly a fifth of whiskey, gin, vodka or rum in one evening. I'm not saying I've never done anything stupid while under the influence, far from it! I've got some stories I could tell........but I won't! lol. Here's the thing. I've always enjoyed a drink, or 2, or 20. These days I just can't do it any more and it pisses me off! My body rejects it. Back then, I could even mix beer with some other alcohol and still be ok. Now if I do that, it's automatic revulsion and I find myself bowing to the porcelain god. lol. Anybody else notice this as they've gotten older? I'm guessing it has something to do with the quantities of stuff I drank when I was younger. I don't know. All I know if I've got a 2 beer limit now before I toss my cookies. It sucks!

Funny, I only 28 but I feel the same way. I can't drink like I used to at all. it is crazy how much my body has changed. The hangovers last forever and a day and my body is always achy the next day. I watch my friends drink and drink while I am quietly asking the bartender for a water with a lime to settle my stomach. I guess I spend less money but it is very bizarre to me how much has changed. Drinking has almost lost its fun all together!

You're sooooo right! Drinking has lost it's fun.....and what fun it USED to be! Partying until the wee hours at clubs, bars, friends houses. Somehow, the effects the next day weren't near as severe as they are these days. I could party all night and go straight to work (most of my co-workers were usually in the same state! lol) My hangover usually lasted until about noon or so. Now, it's a couple of days before I feel back to my usual self. You're only 28 jodylee, just wait. lol. Believe it or not, though, you're getting a jump on the game now by drinking water & lime. As the years pass, you'll be in better shape for it! Thanks for the reply. Cheers!

Drinking is really a addiction and not easy to quit all of sudden. But good thing is there are many rehabilition center for helping to get rid of these habits. Try them and make a great change in your life.
