Hi there friends, where do you like to watch movies, in a regular stand alone theatre or in a Multiplex in a shopping complex. Now days it is a trend to start a lot of multiplex theatres with just 200 to 300 seats, and having 5 to 6 screens in a single place.
I always prefer to watch a film in a single screen theatar, may be I am out of touch with the young generation, who prefer the multiplex.

It seems a lot of people are loosing interest in seeing the film/movies, in the theaters. I am not as bad as you,
It is more than a year since I have gone to a theater.
Thanks for the response.

I'm with you! There aren't too many of the "old-fashioned" stand alone theaters anymore, at least not in my area, but I definitely prefer the giant screen and the great acoustics you usually get in them as compared to a multiplex. There is still a theater in my small town but it's really struggling to stay open, which is very sad. Because of budget concerns they rarely get a big blockbuster right on the day or week of release but when it does play a few weeks later it costs about half as much for admission and snacks as it does at the multiplex 10 miles down the road.
Don't get me wrong, the multiplex theaters serve a purpose. It would take forever for most movies to come to my area if all the theaters were single screens only. It's good if someone has other things to do and/or they're not sure what time they'll be "free" to see a movie or if they're unsure of what they want to see. It's also great if you go in a group and everyone doesn't want to see the same movie. Of course, that doesn't work well on "date night" for couples...lol! My husband and I would never have gone to a movie together if it had been like it is now nearly 40 years ago.

Thanks for the response anniepa. We oldies are in a minority, most of the young people prefer the shopping complex/multiplex.You are also right about the price of the snacks, some of the snacks prices are more than the cost of the ticket itself.
I really used to enjoy the old fashioned stand alone theater, with the pop corn as well as the soda counter, and of course the cheap snacks, and also cheap parking.
The good old days are gone.

Are they ever! At our hometown theater, which as I said is struggling to stay open, it's only $3.00 for a ticket. Two people can actually go and see a first run movie on a BIG screen (something many young people have never even seen) and get popcorn, sodas and even some candy for under $20. At the multiplex down the road that same evening would cost closer to $40!

In my place, there are those ricketry theatres with no good screens, all muddy and even the voice or sound system is sick.So no good families care to go there.Actually people here say that going to cinemas are bad and good people do not go to cinemas.
Since the cinemas are not upto the level so the tickets are also very low costs of about 7-25 Rs. only.

Is it so bad in Bihar. I have heard that things are quite bad there, but I never knew that even cinema theaters are that bad. Hope at least the present Chief Minister improves your lot.
Thanks for the response.

In my country, hardly you will find any stand alone theater again. Being a cinema that attached to mall or shopping department will definitely attracts more people to go there rather than stand alone theatres. I like going to stand alone theatre, since it usually surrounded by great cheap restaurants and also become a little bit nostalgic, since there are only 2 stand alone cinema here and both have been buit since the 60s I believe

You are quite right, that is the word, "nostalgic". That is how I feel when I go to the stand alone theater.Well after a few years, I do not think there will be any left.
Thanks for the response.
