If your good at chess does that mean your smart? Chess can teach you alot and it can help enhance your memory. Usually if your good at chess you are pretty smart. If your not successful academically, you must be lazy. Chess shows you have an ability for logical and strategic thinking, Its up to you to use it.

I think that people that play chess are smart. It is a game of logic and strategy but also you have to take into account your opponent. Is the person you play, an aggressive player or conservative player? You can tell usually after the first few moves and that changes your strategy. You are constantly thinking, anticipating and planning as you play and that all involves intelligence. Academic success or failure in this case isn't always contingent on laziness, I have heard very intelligent people say that the pace of their academic learning was too slow and they got bored or they were to confined from the structure, etc. whatever reasons but not because they were lazy. Take Einstein for example, he dropped out of high school, he took an entrance exam for an Institute in Zurich but failed. He went back to a Swiss high school to get his diploma which allowed him entranced to the Institute but teachers did not distinguish his intelligence and his prospects for further academia was poor, yet we honor him as one of the most intelligent individuals that lived and I believe no one can say he was lazy.

Are you playing seven games of chess or just seven different types of games on facebook? I have never played chess on the computer before so I'm not sure how I would like that. I like playing chess with a person I can see. Watch them and then figure out how to beat them and check-mate!
