Do you say your prayers before going to bed?

When I was little I can remember saying my prayers every night before going to bed. My mom would make sure that I did. Sadly though, now that I'm older, I don't seem to say them that often. I'm trying my best to start saying them again every night though. Do you say your prayers before going to bed every night?

Yes I can not go to sleep without saying a prayer. Of course I don't sleep all that much anyway but for the hour or so I do sleep I have to say a prayer before I do. My parents were never really into that when I was younger but I myself made the step to do it every night.

That's good that you remember every night to say them. Why do you only sleep for an hour a night?

my daughter has epilepsy, cerebral palsy, developmental delay and only one kidney. Her seizures are changing and I fear for her because of my own anxiety and bi polar so my mind is always thinking the worst. SO I check on her often at night which leaves me with little to no sleep.

Yes I say them every night and have as long as I can remember. Occasionally I fall asleep before I can finish them so I remember to say them again the next morning! The Lord's Prayer is the only one I say by rote but all the rest is just long conversation when I thank my Lord for all my blessings and ask his advice about any problems I may have.

That is a good prayer to say every night. I know sometimes I feel like I have too much to say and get very sleepy too.

I make it a point to say some prayers to my god everyday,in night before I go to sleep. I have been doing it for a long time. It is my way of thanking god, for the things which he done to me on that day, and hope that the next day will bring more happiness.

Hi Shar, Unfortunetely,I did say any prayers before going to bed. I am a buddhist and normally I will go to temple to pray when I feel like going. I am not doing it every month. I believe i should start visiting temple more often for praying. It does good for me and my families too.

I say my prayers before I go to sleep. But sometimes when I'm so tired I just fall asleep without knowing I already forgot to pray. I always do my best not to forget to pray.

Sadly to say for me, I don't say them all the time either, I try to remember to but I forget most of the time, and whenever I do say my prayers I don't think I ever finish I usually end up falling asleep right in the middle of it..ha. I'm trying my best tho to remember to say them.

Im the opposite if that. We were never told to say prayers when we were little. I remember being a preschooler and going to church school every sunday for a short time. We were heathens. I later in my life learn spiritual things on my own. I pray everday, many times now. Jahovah is my best friend.

Thank you. Sometimes when your parents bring you up ina certian denomanation people just stay with that without questioning. I sought out and studied and asked questions. Certian churchs could not answer my questions. I searched till i found studies that didnt contridict itself.

I pray first thing in the morning, before getting out of bed and last thing at night after getting into bed, I will usually go to sleep after prayer for several hours, then I am often wakeful in the middle of the night. But these are habits formed in childhood.

That's good. I wonder if you pray in the middle of the night too if you'll fall back asleep.

Yes. It has been a habit that I have done from I was about 4 years old. I also say an act of contrition asking God to forgive my sins. I believe it the power of prayer. I have 3 people in my life that are seriously ill and over the weekend I did a 24 hour prayer. For 24 hours I prayed a decade of the Rosary day and night for God to spare the lives of my three friends. Well, one is a step niece and she is dying of in-operable cancer and will leave two little boys - 5 & 6 years old. Our family is traumatised.

Yes I do pray before going to bed and after I wake up in the morning. I just say the prayers in my mind looking at the picture. When ever I see God's picture I say a prayer. Though this has become a habit I never visit church or temple for that matter any religious place.

To be very honest this is the secret weapon of one's life. This is the most powerful and unseen support system. I don't want to make a mockery of it and so no public show.

Some nights the kids & I say the lil dity that starts "now I lay me down to sleep,,,,," Thats the only prayer I even know, my mom was not a very religious person so I do not know as much as others do on the subject.

I don't sleep well if I don't have a nightly talk with God. I think that thanking Him for all the great things He's done for me kind of settles my mind into a positive place and makes it easier for me to fall asleep. I pray briefly when I wake up, too, asking for strength to get through the day and thanking Him for yet another beautiful day in my life.

Hi ya Shar19 I am not really that religious so I don't pray at all. I used to when I was younger as I was part of the church, going to Sunday School and so forth. My parents aren't religious either, in fact my father is an atheist!

Well I guess that makes sense why you don't pray.
