My computer got hacked........ / myLot

i think so because it sudddenly started showing some problem and then it was not connected i mean the internet was not connecting , nothing was opening. then i called a person to check it out and he also said that this can be a serious problem, and then there was a news on this news channel that so many computers are been hacked and save your computer, protect it, dont rely on fire walls, hackers can do anything. but i suffered a lot because of all that and i had to pay to that person a nice amount too. did you faced any such problem in your life , ever ?

OMG this is very risky, once i get a hacker on my computer and i have to format everything to save the machine. Hope this is not the case

I tend to not download anything fishy, or go to any shady websites.. i hope my hubby does the same.. but we did have a problem with the pc when we first moved into this apartment, I had a bootlegged copy of w indows that i couldnt update, so no service packs where installed and i got a boot sector virus that wouldnt even allow me to boot from the windows cd!! so i couldnt format, it wouldnt turn on, the only thing that worked (which was RISKY BUSINESS) was to unplug the hard drive, and wait for the boot sequence beep, and then quickly, plug the hard drive in again.. and THEN it booted from the cd and we could format.. but it could have fried my hard drive and or mother board.. but thankfully it did not.

hmm as far as i can see, did you allow someone else to use your computer? i mean someone you don't know well, lending your computer to people you don't know well can be dangerous at times i say . . . well but it could also have some hardware problem or probably your computer could also have got hanged, you need to know what that guy actually charged you for i mean some hardware replacement or something like that. . . computers can malfunction for a lot many reasons and you need to take care about it... have a nice day aweins!
