Just this afternoon I went to an electric/electronics shop to buy a bulb. In this store a saw a crimping tool so I ask the saleslady if I can see it and test it. Upon testing I accidentally broke it. I'm sure I only use a minimal amount of force. In fact I even used my left hand which is my non-dominant hand. Now they want me to pay it. I asked for the packaging of the tool to see the brand name of it. Too bad they can't show it to me cause they said there's no packaging of it. I'm suspecting that maybe it has already a break in it and it just happened that I totally broke it. They still insist that I should pay it because I destroyed it. Okay I understand that but I want them to issue an official receipt with the brand name and item number of the tool so as the signed printed name of the saleslady who's trying to sold it to me. They said they can't provide the brand name and item number of it and they don't want to sign the receipt. I can't understand that. So to settle things up the owner decided that I won't pay the broken item in an unkindly manner. I was really disappointed by her. I'm a customer and she should be kind to me. I said I'm going to pay it but they just have to give me a proper official receipt. They said no cause they don't want further problems. Maybe they're afraid that I will report them to the department of trades and industry. My question is have I done the right thing? Or would it be better if I just paid the broken tool and walk away. Anyway it's not expensive. What do you think guys?
