I just wanted a nice, simple toy for my niece for her second birthday on Sat., after talking with my sister I decided on some cardboard blocks, which are way more fun than they sound. They are big blocks and usually come in red, yellow, and blue, in 3 different sizes, I didn't have them myself, but I can remember when I was 8 or so, some younger children on the block had them and I loved playing with the blocks even at that age. Later when I worked at a school for special needs infants & toddlers we had them there too. The kids loved them, frankly I still liked them too. (Yes, I enjoyed showing them how to stack them and then knock them over! ) So I found them on Amazon, but decided I should be able to get them at Toys R Us...WRONG! I am pretty sure the girl there thought these blocks only exist in my mind. Unfortunately I waited too long, and there is no time for shipping. Does anyone else here have any idea where I'd be able to find them? (Target and Walmart show them on their website, both show "available online but not in store"). I have two local stores I can check that both sell Melissa & Doug toys, as that is one of the companies that makes them. Otherwise I guess I will order them and give them to her another time. Thanks!

Yep, ebay is great...they have everything! I was finally able to find them...at a local toy & hobby store about 2 miles down the road from me. They have a lot of good kids' toys there, but when I looked there a few weeks ago, I did not see them. (The lady at the store says they've had them all along...could very well be I just did not notice them). I've also been told Michael's (which is mainly a craft store) also sells them, but I found that out later. So, I was able to get the blocks, but as my niece had to nap before we had a chance to put them together, I have no idea how she liked them. The "adults", however, had a good time playing with them once we put them together.
