It 5pm, your shift at work is already done. You got your bag and put on you jacket and prepares your umbrella as it is ringing outside. As you lined on the Bundy clock, you co-worker (or your boss) whom you have work all day (and knows your shift)ask this question, "Are you going home?". Didn't he know that your already piling on the clock and prepares to go home, but still he ask this silly question? Not to offend him in any way, you will answer his question in a funny way. What would it be?

"Here's your sign"... lol, I'd hope he or she watches Blue Collar Comedy Tour, or knows of Bill Engvall. Though most likely I'd say "yes I am"... lol. I wouldn't be sarcastic or funny because I don't know that the boss would think it's funny, a co worker yes... but most of the time they just ask that instead of "when'd you get in?" or as a way of conversation.

I agree with what you are saying, bosses are people too and they do need a little laughter from time to time. I would just want to know that they can take a joke before I'd say anything, or if anything I'd make a joke on myself... lol.

yeah, my boss is like that. we can exchange jokes now and then. can even talk to him about some personal advice. and of course "money matters". "Hey Boss, I'm afraid I cannot come to work today, my wallet was stolen for the nth time last night when at the bar after we parted ways". But of course I never use this alibi.

Walk a little step..then stop..and said
"By the way boss, your wife called. She said come home early or else..

"Why? Are you so excited to not see me already?" or if feeling a bit flirty... "Nope, I was waiting for you to treat me out!" I might even get myself some free dinner or something. Nyahahaha!!!

I would just say, "No, I'm going to clock out and then get back to work because I love this place so much I want to work for free." That might be a little sarcastic, though.

At my previous work place when the working hours or shift was over, suddenly there would always one person or the other would say "Pack your belongings!!!"
So, even when we knew it's time to go home, it was always funny and even the boss would laugh at this after all the tensions and stress at work. It was as if it's a relief to hear those words so that nobody would feel awkward to sign out and leave, and gave the boss no chance to ask the question as above. So, I don't have anything funny to share... Let me give a try...,
Boss: Are you going home?
Me: Yes, Boss. I'm on the way. Consider it's done!
