well it does help to be yourself and not just post for the sake of it. however that said there are some users who seem to start discussions and then just leave them to ripen - paying no attention to the responses they get. you're better off responding to people that tend to reply to at least some of what they receive. good luck and welcome to mylot.

yep. started some about languages just now - which is something i am actually interested in. btw OP when you are able to comment on new discussions please join in because i'm interested in what people who are not native english speakers have to say. native speakers who have run away to greece not so much...

ah.
just realised that you might have been talking about discussions you started yourself - again start one about something you are interested in. also it's a good idea to add people to your friends list that you have things in common with. i made a huge mistake of starting a discussion about something i was not very interested in and dealing with all the responses was a bit of a pest.

Like the first person said, it depends on what interests people. But I have not received notification that you started any, this is the first one. I work through email notification so that I can answer all my friends' discussions. Sometimes I don't get notified right away.
Do not be discouraged!
I would like to see you discuss parts of your culture-what you eat, what you do for enjoyment, rules of your society. I'm interested in how people in other countries live and their politics.

Hi there, come on by and comment on other people's posts and try and keep your posts original and you will eventually get responses. Also it's good to respond back to the people who respond to you and get a discussion going.
It is fairly common though for new people to get fewer comments though, but don't get discouraged.
And welcome!

I was like that too, and i don't really care enough bout it lol..that's why i only replying on an extended topics that are interesting for me. and i agree with the person above me, it depends on your topic is it interesting enough for them, or maybe there was a similar topics like yours before.
and yep, don't forget to put the tags ok! don't give up..happy mylotting!

Hi, well you may not have noticed but posting discussions over the last day or so has brought zero replies to everyone as the system was having problems, but the short one line questions you tend to post we most likely be deleted (read the guidelines ) so a lot of people knowing this won't respond. Also by postig simple questions such as 'how many cups of water do you drink in a day' become difficult for you to respond to as there really can't be much originality to work with on your comments.

Simply don't start discussions, look for ones more than a day old and reply to them. It is always better for newer members to reply first anyway to get a feel of the difference between good and indifferent discussions, and get a feel which work well. Until you meet people with shared interests your own discussions won't be seen by many anyway, so for now look at discussions in your interests, or go into discussions started in other user profiles and as long as they already have a response on them you own response will be submiitted.
