I am still trying everything to delete some bogus software that I mistakenly installed on my computer thinking I was talking to windows which is how they identified thenselfs. I have installed an uninstaller and uninstalled what showed up in programs but there were leftover files. When I opened these files and tried to delete them, I get the above message. It says I need permission to delete these files..PERMISSION FROM WHO?? Its my computer and I can't believe that this company has embedded this junk and made it impossible for me, with no technical skills, to delete..Is it possible to open these files anyway at all? If anyone can help I would truly appreciate it..I just cant afford 30.00 per hr for a tech right now..Thanks in advance..

Have you tried to delete the folder holding the files rather than the files themselves? You might also try dragging the folder holding the files to a different root directory or to a removable drive so that whatever is using them, cannot find them.

jwfarrimond Thanks for responding. dragging the files to a different root directory or removable drive sounds like an excellent idea and will be by next move since I exhausted every good anti malware program out there to no avail. Pop up blockers are not stopping this one either. I have spent the entire day on this subsquently loosing a whole day of work so a few more hours into the wee hours might just make a difference! I dont know how to due these two things, but I wil find out. I do understand the concept however. This is my first computer amd Iam still learning. Again,,thanks for your help..Its much appreciated. J

Hi jwfarrimond You are my new best friend!! Your advice about dragging folder to another place is what finally worked. Once files were out of OS, I was allowed to delete them..I can not thank you enough for taking this problem off my back..Its such a relief to not have those ridiculous pop ups show up every 2 minutes followed by windows shutting me down and rebooting..It cost me so much time and now I am a full day behind in my work...I just couldn't concentrate on anything except getting rid of this problem..Thank you a million times...J

i think you have not properly uninstall the software and any service by the software is still running. which is using the that particular folder you are talking about. you can do one thing first login as an administrator and then checkout if there any new service or process in running in task manager. end that task. before login check our for any new startup program. ultmately you have to stop that service or process which is using the folder so that it can be deleted successfully.

1anurag1 This is all so confusing..Task manager shows nothing running right now except for MyLot yet pop ups from this place are still coming fast and furious and when I dont opt to buy and say run unprotected, my computer shuts down..I'm loosing my mind.Ive spent the entire day on this and am right where I was when I started trying to fix..I'll try your new startup program idea next..Thanks so much for trying to help me, I truly appreciate it, Thanks J

If some process related to these software are running , then we can not delete them without stopping them. You can see these processes in the task manager (cntrl+alt+del) But you need to find the related process. That can be easily identified if you see all the processes running. If you are not able to identify the particular process, then select the doubtful processes and then press on "end now". Now you try to uninstall or delete the file. some of the files will have been protected. These attributes can be changed or removed only in command prompt which needs little skill. The first method itself will help you to delete them.

Hi hmrk I fixed it!!! What I ended up doing was moving files to another location and once they were out of my OS I could delete them...Pop up's are GONE!!! I am so relieved. I spend 1 and 1/2 day on this...but I learned alot..Thanks for your help..J
