Are the blue lines looking a bit sinister now?

We are all used to these blue lines appearing everywhere by now. They don't appear when we type but when we submit. I have just opened a discussion and under the heading used the word 'discaimer' in capitals. As it submitted itself the blue line decided to attach itself to part of the word 'disclaimer' and underlined the word 'claim'. At the same time it reduced this word within a word to lower case leaving only the DIS and ER in capitals, making it look entirely stupid.
Obvously the blue line wanted to draw attention to the word 'claim' but why is it now hijacking part of a word and obviously not wanting to allow the word 'claim' which it wants to underline, to appear in capitals.
Any thoughts on how these blue lines are now appearing to be somewhat sinister?

You are right Thea! I think they are coming all over the place and making me see blue everywhere.
I can understand the hyperlinks for the adverts, money, more revenue - all those are OK but little bit too much sometimes. DISCLAIMER certainly is one such instance.

Exactly! At first, I thought the words are double underlined by the users, a new addition during my absence!! Then I found out that those are hyperlinks.

Hi Mimpi, it's actully a bit strange, the first time I used DISCLAIMER it came up as DISclaimER, when you used it it didn't, and when I experimented above it didn't either. Maybe they read this and realised we could be on to them.
I still find the blue lines distracting though as they always appear to stress one word that doesn't need stressing.

Hi Zed, are you not familiar with a DISCLAIMER? I just caplocked the word again to see what would happen to it. They are handy things as you can put them at the start of a discussion to advise, warn, guide people what is acceptable for the dicsussion. Thus sometimes one sees it applied as 'do not bother responding unless you agree with me'. I used it as a discussion to be taken lightly and not for ranting, as two words in the title 'illegal immigrant' could draw rather heated confrontational like screaming, ranting and negative rating. So I disclcaimed against it in advance which means if someone begins ranting I will ignore them or

Oh dear, I've just realiesed you said example rather than explain, the monitor is quite far away due to the laptop being in front. I'll leave it there if you don't mind in case someone actually does ask me to explain.
So we are both seeing the word claim underlined, it woud appear perhaps the insurance industry could be interested.

Things don't bother me like they use to. Did have to call tech support for my computer this morn & stayed on the phone w/the guy for nearly 2 hrs. but think he got my problem all straightened out. Now when my computer is not working that's another story.

I really haven't given it much thought until now, but, that is sort of strange that it picks which part of the word to blue and underline.1 person likes this

While reading this discussion, I could actually see what you were saying hihi already the claim part is underlined and the dis discarded. Looks like mylot's promotion policy. Also, have you noticed the unrelated topics which come in a small window when we take cursor to these words?? funny eh!!!
It is irritating to see such words diffrent in colour and underlined.

Hi Malpoa, and have you noticed that the words we notice as underlined in blue have often changed the next time we go back and that sometimes people see differnt words underlined as if perhaps targeted through our interests. I may start removing some of my interests soon as never use them to respond to anyway.

I saw them but didn't really know why they were there. I'm not really bothered by them though. I just try not to pay attention to them and just keep on reading and responding.

Haven't got a clue what these lines mean. Its clear by now that this site does things without clearly telling everyone. I noticed them and said " here goes mylot again. " They really should make themselves better known to the people who use them.

Thea, you obviously haven't seen the news today. There's good news and bad news. The good news is, Earth is no longer in danger of invasion from Mars, as all the little green men have been exterminated. So we can breathe easy,, right? Wrong! The bad news is the little green men were exterminated by the thin blue lines from the newly created planet called Mylot and they are bent on world domination. Today, Mylot, tomorrow America, the day after that, Spain and Greece. So yes, Thea, you are right to be concerned about the blue lines. Splitting words is only the start - in the end, they will split your very sould and you'll be praying for deliverence from these fiendish things.

And they are watching you back
