Ok, plain and simple, here is real medical care coverage reform that will work, and won't cost a dime more than Medicare/medicaid costs now. Congress audit and investigate the cases of abuse and fraud in the medicare/medicade programs. The money found will be used to fund insurance coverage for the uninsurable. There. Problem solved.

i like your comprehensive plan. The only problem I see with it, it is too simple. People, even the stupid Americans can understand it. So, if you can translate that into a 1000 page plan that would make Einstein scratch his head, then its a keeper.

Stupid Americans? Maybe stupid politicians! Or maybe not so stupid! (If we think about it..) or do you mean stupid cause we seem to be falling for the big gov, big daddy persuasion mankind keeps going for.. i guess maybe you're right then.

I didn't think you could do it! But there ya have it! Your plan would work! Unless the politicians got overly involved and all the money got diverted into their cozy little bureaucracy. (Do I sound cynical? Oh well, your plan is still the best plan I've heard!)

The only problem I see is the number of new government employees it will take to hunt down the fraud. While you at it hunt out all the -programs that have been added to bills over the last few years you know the pork that benefits one or two states.

Why prosecute if you really want public health care. It doesn't fit the plan.

Actually, the programs for auditing and investigation are already in place.

if they are already in place, why aren't they being used more often? Why aren't we saving this money now?? Think I already answered this question, really... the government doesn't want to use it, they don't want to prosecute, because, well, they are just a fraudulent. Really, every year, this comes around, we need to do something about the healthcare system, oh, we can save lots of money if we go after the fraud, and yet, well...another big handout to the healthcare industry, and yet, still, many of the same people who really need the help, don't get any help! and of course, the fraud continues onward.

Funny you say this Ted, I was talking to my mother about my step father's insurance asking why doesn't he have medicaid/nedicare since he is 67 sge she said he does but it does not cover what he needs. She had to purchase another insurance for him which cost her 1500.00 a month which is draining their money really quick. I was shocked and was like what are you talking about. She said He had an operation last year which cost in total with rehab 79 grand and with medicare/medicaid we would have had to pay 20 percent. His medications he has to take every month cost out of pocket 410.00 with medicare/medicaid. My stepfather got into a horrific accident back in the early 80's he should not be walking but with the grace of god he is. He got a good size stuctured settlement which he is able to live off of until august of next year, before mom met him he was paying all his medical bills so his money was going really fast. Medicaid is wonderful for those that are poor but for the middleclass they once again get totally screwed as I found out yesterday. Who do you think is being fraudulent with the medicare medicaid?

I know what you mean, when I was on medicare, my doctors wanted to refer me to the Mayo Clinic. Medicare rejected the referral on the grounds that there were closer facilities. The stupidity of that was, medicare wasn't being asked to pay for travel, or living expenses while I was there. They admitted that it was the only facility that could handle my situation, but refused on a basis that had nothing to do with the claim. Prs. Obama himself said that there is hundreds of billions lost to medicare/medicaid fraud every year.

Sounds like a plan! While you're at it can you get rid of that ridiculous requirement that you have to have additional coverage along with medicare? Someone else (grammasnook I believe) posted something similar to the situation my parents are in.

the biggest frauds are in the government, get rid of the government, and how much would we save???

I don't know what we'd save, but lose the government completely and we lose freedom.

Exactly. Personal liberty is best maintained by the checks and balances of the individual, the community and the government. Anytime one of them exerts undue power over the others, personal liberty is threatened.

actually, we would gain all the freedom in the world, unfortunately, many would use their new found freedom to take the freedom away from others.... and we would be back in the same boat, maybe worse, a small chance of it being better.

That would just about solve the problem too. Heck while we are at it how we audit all the programs and get rid of the fraud. It is our tax dollars and should not be used for fraud or waste.
