Hi. I have been transferred from my home town and in my new place I dont have an internet connection. Here, I can use the net only for around 15 to 20 minutes a day. Is it ok if I type the discussions to be posted in mylot in MS. Word and later copy/paste them in Mylot when I am online? Is it allowed that we can copy/paste our genuine articles once we cross the 500 mark? Please clarify my doubt. I would be extremely happy if someone provides me with a proper assistance. Thanks in advance. Happy Mylotting. Cheers:-)

It is ONLY allowed that we copy our own original articles. If we copy the work of others it is an offence unless we quote the source. In that case we should only copy/paste a few words and never the whole article or anything else not pertaining to us.

Yes you are right. If we copy the work of others, then we will be ending up in a big trouble as mylot deletes the discussions that are being copied and more ever, our earnings would be detected to some extent if we publish the copied works. Thanks for responding to the discussion and have a great day. Cheers:-)

I don't find anything wrong in that. You are going to type in your in your home what you like and then going to paste it when and where the internet is available. You are doing so as you don;t have enough time to be online. But it may be very hard to do this always. If you want to leave some comments to the responses, it will be much harder. Just you can start some discussions by this.Online time is little bit essential for this.

You said it exactly. We need some time online to respond to discussions and leave some comments on the discussion being started by our friends and others. Yes, without a proper internet connection, it is much harder to participate in Mylot. But still, I am attracted to mylot since we can learn more number of things here than in any other social sites. Thanks for responding to my discussion and have a great day

I understand what you mean. I used to have only a dial-up connection and it takes me so long just to compose discussions and answers to certain posts here in mylot. I always end up taking a lot of time waiting for pages to load aside from wasting precious internet time typing my replies. I think it is okay to create your discussions (should be all original, of course) in MS Word first so that when you go online, you won't have to pay for high internet fees for staying so long. And yes, you can use the copy and paste option once you reach the 500th post. Hope you get your own internet connection soon though so that things would be easier for you.

Yes, thanks for your words. I hope I get an internet connection soon,. But I have come to this place on deputation for 5 months and hence I think it is not worth to apply for a new connection and that is the only reason for me for not getting an internet connection. In my office, after my working hours, I can use the internet. But I need to catch my bus at 7pm and I work till 6.30pm. All i can do is to type some of the discussions which i think is worth posting in MS Word and then Copy/paste them in the available 15 minutes time.

If it is your own work and your opinion and is not copied from someone else, I don't see why you couldn't paste something from your word document to here. When I write articles for sites I always type them in word first and then just transfer everything over, that way it is all spell checked and ready and I have a copy on word in case something happens. As long as it is your work it should be fine.

Yes, you can copy past your own writings. You can't copy and paste from any other resource available in internet. I think Mylot allows users to copy and paste only if they cross a particular number of responses. Just check if you are able to copy and paste. I write discussions and their descriptions in MS word and later copy and paste to Mylot sometimes. If you are copy and pasting something directly from a source, you need give the courtesty to the source.

Hi vinslounge. There shouldn't be a problem so long as it is your own work and not someone else's (i.e. copying and pasting someone else's posts that are on here or anywhere else and posting them as your own). I also use the copy and paste feature on mylot for this very purpose. I like to type my discussions/responses out on a different program then transfer them onto here (or vise versa). I've been using it since I was allowed to because after losing a few posts (some rather long and thought out) and either having to start all over again (either due to my Internet connection or mylot being down) or just giving up and moving on the next discussion I figured it's a safe way to insure that I won't have to go through such a headache again. Just remember that if this wasn't allowed they wouldn't have granted us this privilege at 500 posts in the first place. So be sure to use it wisely and never abuse it. Happy mylotting!

hello vinslounge, I think it is fine to do this because it is your own work. And yes, this function is only activated once you hit 500 posts. In effect, you earned it and have the privilege to use it.Personally, I use this function to complete writing tasks I have accepted. It is easier to work on a Word file for example, do your editing and then paste it in the submission box.
