I had to laugh the other day when I heard that it was the English who blockaded the French port of Calais. We have operation stack in England on the M20 ,which is near to where we live. All the traffic is grid locked as most of the M20 coast road is used as a car park. They put tea wagons serving hot dogs, ect,to the waiting lorry drivers who cannot go anywhere ,the lorries are completely stuck with no where to go,they even put portaloos out.The cargo on the lorries goes off, independant drivers and smaller companies have to lay people off,if they cannot deliver their cargo in Europe and beyond they don't get paid. All this disruption it causes is heart breaking.Normally it is the French blockading the port of Calais stopping anything crossing the channel as an island it is a real pain, our only way in or out.I just had to have a chuckle to figure out how the French felt not being able to go anywhere, and it was not even them that caused it.Cheeky I know but I could not resist a giggle or two.

I had not heard of that blockade! Nice of them to take care of the drivers and try to make people comfortable, though. I can see where it would be amusing to you and your countrymen!

wow that must have been a real mess Suzzy3 I had not heard about that. I am here in the United States, havent looked at the paper for several days. I am glad that they helped the lorry drivers, I assume lorry is like truck here, right? I am a yank so forgive me,poor guys stuck there without anyway to get food or water ,so glad that they got some food and drink.I can see how you might want to have a giggle or two . hope it got all straightened out. cheers good luck.

Yes it all sorted it self out.Lets face it is wrong whoever does it,but it just tickled me when I found out it was our guys that caused the trouble and brought them to a halt as well, they had no idea it was going to happen, they are probably jumping up and down because we pinched their trick.Don't get me wrong I have nothing against the french it is just a shame when they spit the dummy out the whole of europe has to suffer.Yes a lorry is a truck all different sizes of hgv's .My husband drives a truck but he refuses to cross the channel because he likes to come home everynight. He has no desire to sleep in a truck with no where to wash properly or have to wait for the loos to be set up.

Hi suzzy, I must agree with you there, most of the time everything is disruptive because of the French going on stike for omething or other and we at this end suffers, so its great thatr they got their own mendicine back, I'd love to know what they had to say about it. Lol! Tamara

Hi suzy, that's a bit odd I must say. Why were the French trying to get into England?

The french for their own reasons go on strike and normally they block the channel crossing which is the way out of England for us to get to mainland europe for our lorries to carry goods all over the world,it does affect all people in lorries from all over europe to get to England as well.It happens and one of our main motorways the M20 is used as a car park as far back as Maidstone from Folkstone where the boats and ferries leave from. The lorries are parked end to end for miles ,they put out porta loos.tea wagon, selling food for the stranded drivers. In actual fact the French can bring England to a halt.I have no beef with the french it is just gutty everytime they go on strike they manage to cause so much disruption to us.The thing that made me laugh was this time our boats blocked the port of Calais in France and caused all the trouble.Lets face it does not make it right but I had to laugh that our guys caused them inconvenience for a change.
