What observations have you made watching the Sopranos? I personally have learned quite a bit about the Italian American culture. Granted Tony was a hypocrite many times but his supposed values show a lot about what Italians are like. They value family and tradition. Mothers are deeply respected. Children are supposed to take over the responsibilities of their parents once their parents get old. What Tony did may have been the opposite but his constant iteration about family, love, honor etc. shows that culture. So what observations did you make watching the episodes?

Please don't base Italian Americans off of the Sopranos. The Sopranos were crime falilies and not your typical Italian American families. Although Italians do have a great amount of family values and love, and they do treasure honor, and those who came here from Italy have a strong connection to their culture and roots. We are loving and nice and sometimes too honest of a people. But most Italian Americans are not involved in any big time crime.

Oh no I did not mean to say that the Sopranos represent Italian Americans. I meant to say that I learned about the culture by watching the show while knowing that the Sopranos are NOT representations of them. Like you said Italian Americans are loving and too honest and have a strong connection to their culture that's what I have observed. I meant it in a positive way. I also know that the Sopranos are not the typical Italian American family but the way they talk about culture and honor apart from what they personally do is what lends to the observations.
