Based on a study commissioned by the United Nations, global warming is projected to increase the average tempature by 3.5 degrees over the next century. According to the IPCC (Inter-govermental Panel on Climate Change) the likely result would be that sea levels would rise by between 0.09 and 0.88 meters. While lots of the experts disagree on the details, even if the entire Greenland Ice Sheet melted and West Antartic Ice Sheet fell into the sea, its projected that the sea level would rise roughly 10 meters. While this would definitely cause big problems, especially in low lying coastal areas, it doesn't appear possible that it would "flood the rest of the world". Check out the Earth Observatory website by NASA for more details. Global warming is when the temperature around the world gets warmer. There's a natural cycle the earth has been going through for thousands of years. We have global warming for many years, and then it flips and in very quick order, we shift to global cooling which happens much faster than globalwarming, and it puts us into an ice age. Man does contribute to it, I'm sure, but we are not the largest contributors by far. There are people who believe global warming is a horrible thing and may destroy the earth, however, it's simply a normal part of the weather cycle. They forget that, by trying to have humans undo the global warming trents, they might just do enough to trigger us succenly diving into an ice age, which is the end result of global cooling. Mankind cannot control this totally, since it's not the only contributor, and we just don't have that kind of control over all the animals and plants that inhabit the earth. Right now there's a show on the History Channel you should all watch, and it's on "The Little Ice Age" -!-
