I think some kids press down really hard when they write something. That makes it harder to make smooth lines needed for writing, especially cursive. Ask your kid try easing up, don't grip the pencil as tightly, and let his pencil mark the paper without going all the way through. He'll break fewer pencil points, too! haha

We all have good handwriting in our family. We were trained by our parents before on how to write properly, and neatly. This was also taught continuously in school. Now, I have a 3-year old nephew and we are starting to teach him how to write. He's pretty fast in learning though. Plus his writing was good too. We started training him using connect-the-dots activity book of letters. Then, we are assisting his hand as he connects the dots. Now, he can write alone by himself at that age. Time for kids is really valuable if you want them to learn. Just like my nephew. We alternately teach him stuffs like this, so he is very much eager to learn more and more each day. And it works... He gets better each day!
