The Rest Of My Going Ons....

Like I said in my last discussion, I went to see my parents on Thursday after getting my hair cut and the next thing I knew, dad said my oldest brother had called him and told him about the incident in Ft. Hood. Since hubby and I had been stationed there from 1991 - 2002, 10 years, it was quite a shock so we went to see about it on the news. Of course we were dumbfounded about it all! And since we had lived there for so many years, it really hit home. Ft. Hood has seen so many tragedies that it's almost surreal and now this!? Hubby and I have known several people that were killed from helicopter crashes to car wrecks to suicide to murder/suicide, oh the list goes on and on. If you have a heart at all, you never get used to it. My heart just aches for the families!! Oh my heart just aches! I've been in such a daze for the past few weeks and Thursdays incident didn't help a bit but I'm trying to get myself out of this "hole" because I'm so far behind in everything that needs to be done around my home that I need to get my act together and move on with life for it's sure not waiting for me! But it's hard when in a clutch like I've been in but I AM trying! On a much lighter note, I had ordered a new comforter set for our bedroom which is so needed! and got the right color and shade of paint to paint our bedroom and have started on it last night and will continue on it today. It's a pretty beige color and the comforter set has browns, beige and blues all over it. Really pretty. I bought the matching curtains too so it'll all be really nice looking once I'm finished. I'll post a picture of it once I'm finished. I ordered Christmas cards through Miles Kimble for both hubby & I and for my parents. I told mom that I'd get the addressed from the list that she gave me for her and dad's 50th wedding anniversary, print them up and send them out for her since they're already personalized. She's really happy about that although she didn't want me to do it, bla bla bla. She didn't get to send cards out last year because she was so depressed and didn't want me to get the personalized ones for her and dad but this year, I didn't bother to ask and did it anyway. I could hear the happiness in her voice over the phone so I know I did the right thing this year. Whew! wiping my brow! lol And knowing last year she was so upset because she didn't have anything to wear that was "Christmasy" I'm buying her and I matching shirts from collectionsetc in blue with sequins all over it, with santa and his reindeer flying off in the sky. It's really pretty and I just know she'll love it! Well, that's pretty much what's going on with me. So friends, what's going on with you all?

The other roommate's son is currently stationed at Ft Hood, but he was out in the field that day so he wasn't around the shooting. The roomie's folks were also in town so they weren't out at the base shopping, so those were the only 2 I would know that might be in the area and they weren't. I went to CTC for a year back in the early 1970's, but obviously I don't know anyone there now.

Too close to home, isn't it Elic? We left there in '02 but still, having lived there for 10 years, it's real close to home. I feel so sorry for the families of the fallen but God help the indescribable word man that did the deed for he's alive still. I hope they nail his butt to the wall!

You know your mom pretty well. The shirts sound really cute. National tragedies touch lots further than we realize.

Yeah, I've known her for 45 years so I should know her well enough. lol I showed her the different shirts and asked her which she liked best and she choose the blue one which I kind of figured she would because she's so partial to blue and then I told her that I'm getting her and I both one and she was thrilled about it. I agree, national tragedies do affect us a great deal. Especially when we're so close to it like we are.

I've been busy living. Doing my best to make some money on ebay, business is picking up there. I am still seeing and talking to my new guy friend. I also spend lots of time with my mom running around, stuff like that. We spent the day together today, she had some shopping to do. My kids and grandkids live next door and across the street so I see them regularly. My little guy has been taking me out on dates, I guess he figuees if he takes me out on dates I don't have to go out on real dates. He is 4 yrs old, my precious buddy. Things have been going well for me, I do my best to stay positve and look at the bright side of stuff. We are not promised tomorrow, so I try to live today. Take care Cats.

I'll surely miss my mom this christmas Cats, reading your post reminded me of how always excited my mom as we prepare our noche buena and how happy she was once I go with her visiting her relatives and eventually collecting her gifts, (lol) Olds on Christmas are like children, they're excited with whatever little gifts for them, you know. I do admire you Cats for all your efforts in doing everything for your mom to be happy and enjoy this christmas. Love you Cats for this.

Hi Cats, My mom lives in another country, and reading your post made me miss her more than I already did. Every other year she comes here (her hometown), but it's not in her schedule to spend Christmas here this year. I'm gonna see what I can send her for Christmas. This weekend I've been so busy with my online activities, and helped my 10yr old kid with his project in school. I've also started decorating the Christmas tree but there are some fixes that still need to done. Maybe next weekend I'll be done with it (can't do it on weekdays, I need to go to work). I've read that event in Ft. Hood on the net, it's really tragic. Hope it doesn't happen again, there in your country, or anywhere in the world.

I hope she loves the clothes. It sounds as if you are staying really busy. You are doing alot better at getting things done than we are. I don't know when you have the time!

Hey Sweetie, I really have to give you credit for caring for your parents. Your situation seems to be a rather difficult one. It's especially good that you don't forget yourself completely. Re-decorating your room is a wondeerful project. There is nothing sweeter than having a beautiful bedroom to go to when you want that serenity we all desperately seek in times of good and bad. I wish I could do the same but timing is all wrong. Dennis and I spent Saturday and half of Sunday having a garage sale. We are in the beginning of being foreclosed on and will have to be out of here in 3 months if we are lucky. Tomorrow is our first Court hearing and we'll find out how much time we have to get out. So now we have to concentrate on getting rid of most everything. With Dennis still out of work and me on Social Security Disability, I have no idea where we are going to go and how we are going to get a place to rent. On top of that, both our car and truck are broken down. My car won't start and his truck just putt-putts along. We don't even have the money to fix it. Wed. I have to go to have another CT Scan to try and find out if I have lymphoma or something that is causing the enlaregement of two lymph nodes. That is if I can get my sister to take me. I haven't been on the computer much lately either. Keep your chin up and I'll talk again soon. Love Ya Leenie
