I've been trying to find another job, since I am having trouble making ends meet with my current job. I've been sending out resumes all the time, but I only get responses 99% of the time. I know that companies have software to just pick oout keywords in resumes, or have someone who's job is to sort through submissions, before it gets to the HR. Have you done something to make your CV or resume stand out? I read somewhere that people try using colored paper or oversize paper to make it stand out in a stack. Or have you resorted to video resumes to get noticed? What's your gimmick? Do you mind sharing it, so I can also use it to get myself stand out from a pile of CV's?

There is a standard way to do resume's so while it may be okay in some companies to brighten up the page or highlight things, you might want to make sure the company you put a resume to is okay with it. Otherwise, it might end up in the trash before it lands on the bosses desk!

You are right! My problem is how am I gonna stand out? With the recession, and with a lot of people out work, and also trying to get their foot in the door, I should do something to at least get over the first hurdle of the initial sort of resumes. I guess it's all a gamble. Maybe I should send 2 resumes then, one plain and formal; and the other on an oversized colored paper, using scented ink!

Send two resumes a week and call once a week! Do this until you either get an answer or for a month. Do this with three different companies, and maybe on one you'll luck out! Good Luck! I don't do any job hunting that requires resumes though even now grocery stores want resumes, though I don't usually fill them out!
