Do you make your children eat things that you know they don't like?

We make ours take at least one bite. You never know, their taste may change..lol. My son used to hate tomatoes, but now he likes them..only in his tacos though..lol.

WE MAKE OUR MEALS THE WAY THE MAJORITY OF THE FAMILY LIKES THEM, IF SOMEONE WANTS TO BE FUSSY THEY CAN PICK OUT WHAT THEY DON'T LIKE

I don't. Several times I have suggested that they "try" something but if they choose not to try it, I won't force them to. My hubby did once with my oldest, when she was little, told her to try shrimp and he kept bugging her to eat it. So she did. Turned out she liked it, so much that she just kept eating... and we found out that she was allergic- when her throat swelled up! Everyone is different with different tastes. I have 1 kid that won't touch any veggies except for corn, and my youngest will eat ANY veggie, including broccoli, spinach, asparagus, beets and brussel sprouts! Figure that 1 out.. lol

My policy was if I know they had never tried it they had to taste one bite. I never made them eat anything I knew they didn't like. I didn't cater to them either though. They knew where the peanut butter and jelly was kept if they didn't like dinner. When you have a family of 4 you can't please everyone all the time. Lol.

I probably should but I really believe that the quickest way to get my daughter not to like something is to force her to eat it.

I make the boys try something at least once. Then maybe after awhile goes by I will have them try something again. I can remember my Mom telling me that when I got older I would like brocolli and brussel sprouts. Well not sure how old you need to be for that to happen. I am 36 years old now and still cannot stand these two things.
