Surgery and the Procedures...

I was recently thinking about surgeries…don’t ask, it’s a long story. Anyways, I started thinking about my surgery that I had some 13 years ago. I had a tumor removed from my ovary and it was a horrible ordeal. The thing is…I can accept that I had surgery and that they took the tumor out, but I can’t stop and actually think about what they did. The actual process, I mean. If I even start to think about it, my stomach starts to heave. I’d never want to see pics of what they did or any other procedure like that. It took me a long time to be able to look at the autopsies on CSI and then I just have to keep telling myself that it’s just a dummy, that it’s not real.
Could you stop and really think about the procedure if you had surgery? Would you want to see pics or a video of that type of surgery prior to having it? Are you squeamish when it comes to surgeries? Oh, and what’s your favorite kind of pie?…mines pumpkin and apple.

No I'm not squeamish so it wouldn't bother me. As a matter of fact I tried to watch when I had my C-section they wouldn't let me watch. They would someone else I told them if I can't they can't.
So yeah when someone gets hurt at work I'm the one they call if there is a lot of blood. You have a good day and remember you don't have to look. Your friend onlydia

I don't think I could bear to think about any kind of a surgery, I would not want to know what the doctor is doing while I am knocked out! Pictures, I could deal with, but not of my own surgery!

Was it stitched up? I've had stitches before, and besides it being itchy it didn't bother me one bit to look at it! It happened whilst washing dishes by hand. I remember I started bleeding and I told my mom who I had to wake up, and she said "your leading?" lol I was scared but I think I laughed... that's different though.

Well I have had several surgeries, I've had an ovary removed, I've had two heart surgeries, but I don't think I've ever stopped to think about them and to think about what they did, I'm just glad I was asleep when it was done and when I woke up it was over. It doesn't really bother me to see things like that, I once wanted to be a nurse, so I think I have a strong stomach. I don't think I would want to see pics or video of the surgery because then I'll be thinking eewww thats what they're going to do to me..lol. My favorite is pumpkin also, although I only get to eat it around the holidays...ha

I know I would never make a nurse. I may be a caregiver, but that is far as I go. I cannot stand the to watch those things.

Surgery and pie in the same discussions... hmmmm. LOLOL I am a very technically thinking person, so those things don't bother me. Seeing picture, knowing the exact procedures, etc are something I WANT to know and see before I have it done so that I know exactly what will be happening. To actually watch a surgery is different. I worked for several different doctors over the years (accounting), and was given the opportunity to see a surgery being performed (yep, from the big window). It was very different to see it really done, and blood and organs actually there, than it was to see pictures, let me tell ya!!!
ps my favorite pie is coconut cream!!!

I haven't had any surgeries but my husband has had two...a triple bypass and surgery to clear his right carotid artery...and they also attempted a balloon angioplasty before the heart surgery. He didn't seem to have any problems with the idea of what had been done to him afterwards and we actually did a lot of research online before the carotid artery surgery since he wanted to know exactly what was going to happen.
Pumpkin pie is my favorite...with whipped cream. Nice way to change the subject.

I want to know exactly what they are going to do to me and would even like to watch if I could. I don't like the thought of someone cuting inside of me when I can't watch them and tell what they are doing. I can watch almost anything but what gets to me are the smells. I like rubarb/strawberry pie the best.

I experienced a laparoscopy years ago to investigate fertility issues and the doctor who performed it taped the procedure and when I came in for a consultation after the surgery he played the video to me and proceeded to explain every step of the procedure. To say I felt squeamish in an understatement!
Another instance was being shown footage of a lady having a caesarean half an hour before I was due to have my baby in the same way!

I have not thought too much about surgey procendues. however my gf has undergone surgery and it was intersting as to what was done. she had gastic bypass surgery last month, jsut befroe thanksgiving. she had 7 small inssions in her stomach. she needed to losse wieight and this was what she had to do for her health. the incitions were small and only required a small banage for each cut.
she still has visable scars but they are small and are disaperinng as the days go by.

I don't have any problem seeing pictures or watching videos of surgeries. I had a hysterectomy in 1990 when I was 38 and I wanted to watch a video of a hysterectomy before my surgery. I did get to see one but I was kind of disappointed in it. It showed drawings instead of an actual surgery.
My favorite kind of pies are egg custard, apple, pumpkin, and lemon meringue. What does this have to do with surgeries, though? Kathy.

I forgot to mention that I also like cherry pie. I don't have any one favorite, I don't guess.
I had a D & C, laparoscopy, and hymenectomy in 1983. I also had my gallbladder out in 2005. The gallbladder surgery was pretty rough but they did it with laser. I was bad sick, though, and it turned out that I had pancreatitis at the same time. I didn't know what pancreatitis was at the time and I found out later that you can die from that! I'm lucky to be alive! Anyway, after I had the surgery, the doctor gave me a container with my gallstones in it. I still have that container, as a matter of fact. Kathy.

I am not squimish So I could watch a procedure on the tv or a movie.
I tried to stay awake when they put the stents in me but what ever they gave me sort of knocked me out so I couldnt watch the screen and see what they were doing.
And I told them I wanted to watch but nope they knocked me out.
Pumpkins is my favorite too!

I guess I have a really strong stomach because that stuff doesn't bother me. I used to want to be a pathologist and have seen a lot of surigical stuff and other "gross" things. For a pie, I like cherry which I could never have we my husband was around cause he did not like cherries. I also like pumpkin, apple and keylime.

Hi twoey. I'm terribly squeamish when it comes to surgeries. I've never had any (unless you count my wisdom teeth) so I really hate thinking about them. My husband on the other hand has had a few before (a couple of those were after we got together). Whenever he starts talking about any of the surgeries that he's had it makes me feel so weird. I can't quite explain it. It's not really a nauseated feeling, but I definitely get grossed out and have to tell him to shut up! LOL
For some reason he doesn't get grossed out by that sort of thing, unless someone else is sharing their own story with him, that is. Then he'll get squeamish! LOL
Happy mylotting!
PS My favorite kind of pie is pumpkin.

After I had back surgery in 2006, I was given a copy of my operative report for the file we were putting together to try and get disability insurance. It was really awful! They kept talking about things like using the rib spreaders, and putting insertion tubes into my lungs.

So a career as a paramedic isn't going to happen for you then? LOL. I hope you weren't in too much pain after your surgery. i've been told that having your ovaries played with can be rather painful.
I'm not the squeamish type. Blood, bone etc doesn't bother me, unless there is a fracture or dislocation, then I squirm because I know how much they hurt.
Surgery interest me. If I ever have to have surgery, I'd be very interested in being awake to know what was going on. My body, so why shouldn't I know what parts they plan to leave and what parts they wish to relocate? LOL.

When they do that squishy stuff on CSI and other shows, I avert my eyes. I can't look at that stuff. Heck I almost passed out one morning when my son had a really bad nose bleed. I can think about the procedure if I were to have one, but I couldn't look at pictures or watch an actual procedure.
Cherry pie rules!!!
