Does any body still use Razor blades.

India

The other day I found a razor which was used by my father, this is the one in which one puts a blade for shaving. It was quite a heavy razor, and I though I would use it. Then to my surprise I found that the razor blades for using in this razor are not available, and all the shops were having only the disposable plastic sandwich razors. I am quite shocked, even about 10 to 15 years ago, I was using such sort of blades, and today they are not available, and only the plastic disposable razors are available. How you encountered such sort of things. Your responses.

Almost half the males in the world are addicted to Gillette. That is the reason the blades are going out of fashion.

I still prefer to use razor blades to any of latest ones that have come in. I have my old steel as well as new plastic razors and I still prefer to shave using them. Somehow I am not comfortable with the new razors. Cheers! Ram

Ram you are quite right about the usage of the old razors, but the point is, now days it is becoming difficult to get the blades. The blades are not available in all the petty shops, and it is available only in some departmental stores.

At our place, we get it at almost all the departmental stores, so it is not such a major issue. Cheers! Ram

Well I have never really gotten use dto using razor blades to shave because I was always cutting myself and that was basically my only purpose for using razor hence it means that I rarely used them.I must admit though that my barber still uses them but not to do any extensive trimming but to do so shaping up .Consequently I dont use razors and the last time I saw a razor was last month when I went to get my monthly trim and shave .Most of teh work formerly doen by razor is now done by shears

So the money you save by not buying the blades or disposable razors is taken by the barber.

Hai ramesh! They are still available in our town. And barbers are using them in their knifes to shave. They don't use the traditional knives fore shaving now.Instead they broke a blade into two and use one piece for a single customer. This way it is hygienic and it is not necessary to sharpen the knife every time.I don't think,it is not available at Chennai!Inquire for it and you shall get one.Cheers!

Yes Ganesh, I had seen that when we tonsured the hair on my son. The barber used this kind of razor, which, I also thought is quite hygienic. I am still searching for the blades, and a departmental store told me, that he will try to get me a couple of packets of the blade, and one more friend told me to search it in the Railway stations, where some people will be selling these kind of things in the railway platform.

I have not used razor blades but my father uses them still now. It is nice that they are still available in the market and the razor is really heavy. I use disposable razors which are light. I never had any interest in using the heavy razor. Also my father encouraged me to use disposable razors. They are less dangerous, I think.

I think your father is quite lucky, he still gets the razor blades. It is not available in my town.

We get the razor blades in our country. They are a lot cheaper when compared to the disposable ones. But I am happy with my disposable razors and my father with his old ones.

I still use this kind of razor, and find it is much better than those awful disposable ones. It can be quite difficult to get a decent blade for the razor now though, but when I do, I buy in bulk! I dont know what I will do when they disappear altogether. Happy myLotting
