Hi, I want to buy a laptop but my budget is that much. I want to buy a laptop costing between 400-500 dollars. My requirement is using internet for long hours and work on word documents and maps. I am doing M pHil in Geography and working as a freelance writer. I am writing all this to make it clear what is my need from a laptop. I do not understand much about configuration of computers. Now please suggest a laptop or computer feasible for me. Thanks

400-500 bucks? I suggest these: Laptop that has ddr2 2gb ram or higher, 500gb HDD(I think it's enough), Vista ready, with good video atleast Geforce 6600 or higher, Intel Core 2 Duo processor 2.8ghz or higher(but if you want AMD processors, it's up to you), with good resolution at least 1024x768 or higher. It's your choice.

thank you but I would also like to know, how much it would cost. Also, is there any specific brand you would like to recommend for me according to my needs. It will be great if you reply for this too. Thanks.

Acer or Lenovo. By the way, you can compare the prices of each brand.

400-500 dollars is good enough to have a nicer one with a good spec laptop.
If you buy here in our place you can already get Compaq 2.2Ghz Dual Core2
2GB DDR2 memory, 200-250 GB SATA Drive with dual layer multi-write drive, bluetooth,wi-fi,card reader,webcam,free bag,mouse and cleaner.

Try an ASUS Eee PC 70 with Windows XP or higher. I had one but I sold it when I . It is a mini laptop and it has lots of storage and about 1gb of RAM, unless you're GAMING on the laptop as well, this should be more than sufficient. NOTE: I recommend buying a USB laptop, mouse, and DVD/CD drive to go with it. The Eee PC is small so the keyboard is small too & it doesn't come with a disc drive. Keyboard, mouses and disc drives are super cheap though.

OOPS! Eee PC 700 , not 70. lol. I believe ASUS has a newr version of the Eee PC now too that is around the same price and they are sturdy.
