I don't have much information about reducing excessive iron deposits Bart but i have to agree when you said that blood donating is a win/win situation.
I remember some of my friends who use to it when we are in college. Usually after 3 or 6 months after donating, they will go back to donate again. They are making money out of it.
I never tried it myself though, but hopefully sooner

Yeah, it may sound weird but that's true.
I have the same impression before a friend donated his blood and even show what he gets by doing so.

No, I believe that is not true. But donating blood does have it's advantages, when you give blood within 24 hours the blood is renewed. In the good old days taking out blood was a technique used to regulate body temperatures. So in a way replacing the old with the new gives such advantages.
And also it helps a lot of people.
