This Discussion was triggered by a Friends Discussion that I responded to From when I was little I always wanted to open a Rescue centre for all the Pets that had no home, that where badly mistreated, thrown out on the Street I used to take stray Dogs and Cats home but my Mum always said that we could not keep them so I used to take them to my Grandmother, who always managed to find a nice home for them, I remember asking her when I was about 12 if I could use her Flat to make a Home for all these poor Animals then I could look after them and give them all the love they need, my Grandmother smiled at me and said if that was Possible then she would let me do it, but where would she stay ..... hmmmm I never thought of that From that Day it was what I wanted to do Well it never happened due to many things that happened, but I held onto my Dream, I still hold onto it now As I was never able to make the Dream come true, I have always had rescue Dogs including my little Gissi now I have had rescue Cats, or should I say little stray ones lol The thing is whenever I go to a Rescue Centre it is bad, I just want to take all of them home it hurts to see all them sad eyes For me it can only be little Dogs now, due to Illness I would not cope with a big Dog, also my Tenancy Agreement only allows me a little Dog but I will always have one of the poor little Dogs that need love and care, but the next one is a long way away as my little Gissi who is a very special little Dog will be with me for a long time Have you ever had a Dream what you wanted to do and still have that dream????

Your dream is very sweet. I think we all have dreams, even the ones that deny it! My dream was being able to do a living by myself. Sound like a boring dream, as there's nothing really special looking on it, but for me it was what I had always wanted to do since I was a kid. Now I reached my dream, and I'm very happy about it :). I hope you can reach yours too.

Thank you Enola I will not be able to do it now any more as I have a Disability and it means I can't do it now, so I will just keep giving them a Home and teach them to love and trust again and to give them all the Love they did not have before The Little one on my Avatar is mine now and he has a very sad story to but is happy and wonderful now

We are all here at this time, in this place because we need to be, having a dream is healthy, can you look outside the box and see if there is another way to satisfy your longing? Blessings

I think I share the same dream as you.. I have taken in and rescued (from Stupid neighbors) more cats and dogs than I can count. I have found many of them good homes and kept a few. I have also watched a couple (of the stupid neighbors) dogs die after being hit by cars. I really wish I could help more - I hate being limited.

I also had the same dream I loved dogs all my life and I wanted to either have a big farm with all kinds of dogs or be a veterinarian or work in a pet shop, even, but I never got to do any of those things, oh well such is life as they say

Gaby you would make such a good Rescue Centre owner/manager, but it would be heartbreaking for you. If the centres there are like the ones here, a fair percentage of the pets are put down. You would hate that. You have, however, done your bit over the years, one pet at a time. Look at Gissi and the change in him since he first looked at you! Have I had a dream? As a girl all I ever wanted was to be a mother, but I knew this could never be because I was an absolute man hater. As you know, I had enrolled to become a nun, working in an orphanage, thus at least partly fulfilling my desire. But that changed abruptly when my whole life changed at 22 years old. Have I fulfilled my dream? I have five of the most wonderful sons in the world and the best husband any woman could ever have.

Yes that would be heart breaking to me very heart breaking , Gissi was 2 weeks away from that horrible deed When I told them I would have him, they said that they are so glad as he was only 2 weeks away from having to be put down as he would not go to anyone and no one wanted him so yes that would be one of the things, but if I had my own Kennels I would never let that happen I am so glad that your Dream was fulfilled, one of mine was to the same as yours being a Mum, which I thought I would not be as I was told I would not have Children, yes it was hard to hold onto them while pregnant but I had them both my wonderful Children

Hi Gabs, You really have a soft heart and seo very kind, I have always wanted to work in the animal centre but as I got older i knew that I could work there as its too heartbreaking to see neglected animals or when you have to part with them, so I changed my mind, but I did work in a pet shop but there were only rabits and chipmunks, birds, fish and mice, that I didn't mind. love and hugs.
