with today's awareness global climate change, one of the reason pointing to that change is pollution, garbage and others. speaking of garbage, malls , department stores, small store, and others are using plastics, cellophane and other non-biodegradable containers that in the end contribute to the accumulated garbage. when i go to the market, i usually bring my bag with me, i use it to store my purchases. i usually return to the seller the plastics she wrap for my purchase, thinking that in my little way, i can help save the environment. can you do that also? to conserve our environment?

I usually carry my own bags when I go for shopping. Most of my bags are cloth bags which are bio-degradable. Only for some places I prefer to carry the plastic covers when it is not possible for me to carry the bags. I too feel that it is important for us to use concepts such as cloth bags or paper bags instead of polythene bags. Cheers! Ram

I always carry my own cloth bags. There is one grocery store in my town that gives you 50 extra S&H green stamps on each order if you do not use their bags. Another store does not provide bags unless you purchase them. Customers must bring their own bags or use the store's leftover cardboard boxes. This saves the store money and their prices are cheaper than most places. I think both of these stores have good ideas.

I prefer paper bags.they can be reused.also,I don't like carrying plastic bags.I would buy a cloth shopping bag later.I think it's cool carrying a shopping cloth bag.it is much better than toting paper or plastic bags.

I always have with me my cloth bag whenever i do the grocery. But there is this one time that I was asked to do that, and I was not at home anymore. It was Wednesday and it was the first time SM supermarket implemented using of paper bag which is not good because it is not thick and many people complained for it. So, the cashier would give plastics to customers. I think the government, or at least the people in my town will think about thickening the paper bags if they want to implement this in the supermarket. But anyway, having your own cloth bag is great!

that's good not using plastic.but when you use use the paper there is also a bad effect, did you know what is that?where the paper coming from?it is coming from the tree.so to have a paper you will cut a tree ,cutting a tree is also a cause of global warming.the best way to help the enviroment is planting, recycling, reuse and cleaning.

We use the plastic shopping bags for garbage sometimes. But we also avoid getting them because we have cloth bags and a backpack. These are more convenient anyway because they can comfortably carry more.

From an environmental point of view neither of these choices are good. If you must limit the choice between paper or plastic, then paper is better, but both of these types of bags tend to be thrown out. Even if you recycle them, they are not as good a choice as cloth. A cloth bag can be reused. A far better thing than recycling, which although better than throwing it out, still uses more resources (mainly energy) than reusing. When you shop , the best thing is to bring along your own cloth bags. You can get ones that are well made and have various design, so that they look nice also.

I also get my purchases in a plastic bag and I have always said that I should recyle these bags by taking them back when I go back to the store but I may still yet to get into that apsect of my conservation.I will however start soon as I know that with our environmental problems,I cannot sfford not to

Here someplace ask if we want plastic or paper bag. Most of the time I get plastic bag and I save some of the plastic bags and use for garbage bags in my car and may husband takes to work and they use them for garbage bags in their truck. Once the plastic bag is full then I throw it in my garbage container for the garbage man to pick up.

We can really help save the environment in our own little ways. For me advocating the use of new paper bags would deplete trees. So I recycle every usable paper bags from previous purchases. Using plastic could destroy the environment. My way of doing it is by recycling any plastic that can be used. I segregate garbage.

This is a good question. In most supermarkets over here, consumers are given a few choices. The shopper can either get a cellophane bag but costs 20 cents extra, or can carry they're goods without a form of bag, or can by a reusable bag that is sort of made out of a durable canvas type material for $2.50. Most people have ended up purchasing these durable bags, as they last for almost ever, are very comfortable and fold up into a small area. However, some stores still continue to give away plastic cellophane bags but most people are aware of the detrimental effects these bags have on the environment and only use them if it is only necessary. There are some stores that offer paper bags, in particular pharmacy shops, fast food stores etc offer this option. Having said all this, there are certain benefits to plastic (cellophane) bags. For your kitchen bin, people often reuse these plastic bags as bin covering(?) so that the bin doesn't get covered in rubbish. This is obviously much cleaner, but as I said these plastic bags come in very handy for this purpose. Of course you can get bin covering bags from the supermarket, but they are expensive but not only that it is quite ironic considering your just polluting more and more. They are also much bigger in size than plastic shopping bags so they would pollute much more in the production process. So when I go shopping I still get the plastic bags and try to reuse them as often as possible, whether it be just putting it once as a bin cover, or using it to take goods or foods somewhere in the car.

I use cloth bags, as in the country where I lived before they're prohibiting the use of plastic bags to take care of the environment, but that doesn't happen in the country where I currently live. Plastic bags are very contaminant, so I prefer to take mine with me. Lately more and more people is taking that habit, so I hope it goes on that way.

I always take my own bag when I go shopping in malls except for something can't use paper bag or non-woven fabric bag. In our city, people become more concious to the enviroment.Department stores, shopping malls adopt charging fees on plastic bags,it also helped to reduce the usage of plastic garbage.
