Practicum Log # 10

Ok, this practicum log is almost two weeks late, but better late than never. I was really stressed out, because I had to reformat my lesson plan and my supervisor was being extremely difficult. First, she tells me to reformat it than she won't give me the format until 9pm that night and class starts at 8am. So, I couldn't redo it her way, but she said she understood and wanted the next, which is the last one anyway, lesson plan to be in that format. I wanted her to come on the 25th, but she couldn't. Getting to school was a hassle that day. I had to lug two pounds of paint, six containers, and other materials on two bus. So, I dropped them off in the teacher's lounge and went to get some breakfast. When, I came back, my mentor teacher told me my shirts came in. I was really happy to have them. I noticed a few other teachers were dressed up and asked why. It was picture day. Which was cool to experience, because I'm often not there when they do things like that. Next, my supervisor came and we talked a bit. So, I went to the room and hung up my coat and put the supplies away. I helped the aid get the students from the bus and they seemed happy to see me and some of them were dressed up. One girl cried during circle time because she didn't have money for picture and could only take the class picture, but not get one. After the morning exercises, one girl was chosen to be the soap helper. This little girl was being extremely passive aggressive and not calling the other girls. My supervisor commented on how little girls can be very catty. So, before she was half way done, I gave her some soap and did the rest of the class because she was taking too long. Then, we broke up into three groups for breakfast and we had to make sure none of the children got dirty. Before breakfast was over, my supervisor left. Then, the children brushed their teeth and we took out one toy per table for them to play with. Then, we were called to take our pictures. I got to be in the class picture. Then, we did my project. For my project we used orange and white paint with wooden leaves and rounds to make turkey nests. Some of the kids made a really huge mess and I decide if I get to do this project again in future years, I want to use paint brushes. We washed hands and had lunch. Then, napped. I looked at my mentor's wedding picture proofs with her and the aid. We helped her pick the ones to have printed. It took so long the aid missed her lunch. So, she gave me money and I picked her up something on my lunch and gave it to her before eating mine. After nap time we did large group movement and went outside for a half hour. Then, we got the children ready and on the bus. The teacher told me the next week would be a half day before I left. I feel like they include me a lot, but sometimes I don't feel include because I don't know about a lot of things. I also forgot my shirt before leaving.
