Would you drive through a red light?

Please take this into consideration. It's very late at night, your stopped at a red light. It's been over five minutes and the light is still red. The other side has flashed through the green light a few times already. There are no other cars in sight. What would you do? Do you take the risk of being caught and speed through the red light? Or do you wait, even though your in a foul mood, for the light to turn green? Oh yeah, consider that there might be cameras around to catch you in the act too. I was wondering because I was in this kind of situation a while back. I got off of work, it was a bit late at night, and just wanted to go home and rest. But I was detained at a stop light for around 10 minutes. The stupid light would not turn red no matter what. I was sitting there watching the other side turn green three times. I was the only one there and I was really thinking about ignoring the red light and driving off. But then I noticed all those cameras mounted in the corners. I really didn't feel like getting caught so I ended up waiting grumpily for my light to turn green. I ended up waiting a few more minutes after that.

I am risk averse person, I love my life, If red light remains stop, i would call the police and ask him malfunction of signal. I would prefer for wait half hour rather to cross red signal like a donkey. lol

Wow, you must be a very patient and careful person then. I don't think I'd be able to wait for half an hour. I'm not really a person who takes risks either but if I could get away with it, I would have gone.

Back in the 80s I was a cab driver, and at night I always stopped and looked before proceeding (like one should do on a flashing red light, only I did it at solid reds as well.) Now I don't drive, but if I'm crossing a street and the pedestrian light indicates not to walk, if there are no cars around (or law enforcement officers) I'll just go. I do not understand the mentality of such laws. Yes, mingling pedestrians and traffic is dangerous, but if there is no vehicle traffic, why shouldn't I be allowed to cross the street since I am not interfering with traffic?

I do that also. If there are no cars around and I'm waiting to cross the street then I'd just go. There isn't really a point to wait for the signal. Of course, I usually speed walk or jog across when I do this to be on the safe side though. I really don't like it when people take their time to cross by chatting or whatever.
