Christmas Spirit?

Ok, I KNOW the holidays are about family time and love and not about gifts WHATSOEVER.. However, I know that all of my friends and family are all getting me wonderful gifts. And the truth is, me and my fiancee cannot really afford much for christmas. We are struggling as it is. My hours have been cut SO bad at my job, Im lucky to get 10 this week [min. wage] All of my family is telling me not to get them anything, but that is not the point. I will feel so bad if they get us something and we dont get them anything. I am so conflicted and feel like I just want the holidays to be over already, and that takes away the Christmas spirit even more. Does anyone have any advice? Again, i do know that it is not about money, or presents, but I still feel awful. Is anyone else going through the same thing, but coping better, or am I just a scrooge?

well, think of something you can make your family. even if you are not crafty you can get ingrediants to make soup in a jar or chocolate covered spoons (plastic) for peoples coffee, hot chocolate etc. you just have to be creative. its the thought that counts usually. i just bought some $1.50 picture frames at michaels and am covering them with home made paper.

Hello friend. I guess that the spirit of Christmas gifts is just to tell others "I kept you in my mind and in my heart this Christmas". So no matter what kind of gift you can afford, anyone will appreciate your gifts. You can also write some letters to your best friends and closest relatives. In an epoque in wich seems the most of us forgot how to write something different from a txt message or an email, receive a nice piece of paper, hand written, with "your soul" inside, will be the best gift they will receive this Christmas. Happy Christmas

thats a great thought! I always try to hand write things. especially to my fiancee. he loves it. Even if it is a sticky note on the computer saying i love you, it is better than an "ilu" text! =]

Its not the amount of money but the amount of thought and love that make the best gifts. Giving someone your time is also a great gift. I hope you and your family have peace love and happiness at Christmas and throughout 2010
