my hubby ran the full marathon!

Singapore

Guess what? Last weekend my husband participated in the Singapore Marathon for the first time. It's his first full marathon of 42km, and really a huge challenge. He had trained many many months for this run, but there were some weeks where he couldn't keep to his schedule because he fell sick with the flu, or I fell sick and he had to stay home to care for the baby. Have you ever run a marathon? What's the longest distance you've run, and how did you feel whilst you were running it?

WOW!! That's good for your hubby!! It's never easy running for a marathon!! How did he cope then?? hehe Indeed, running a full marathon needs at least 3 months of preparation in order to run at a comfortable pace.. Being able to last and finished the whole process is already an achievement!! haha =D I have not ran an actual marathon yet, as it's way too early for me.. haha =D BUt the longest run i have last was about 3hrs+, which might be slightly less than a full marathon?? hehe

3 hours could be more or less than a marathon, depending on your pace. The best of the best complete it in just around 2 hours (I think the record is 2 hours and 4 minutes). And 3 hours would be pretty darn good too! I'd say you need more than 3 months of preparation generally. Unless you mean for someone who is starting out and already has a good mileage base. But for someone who just started running it would probably take somewhere close to a year to be able to complete the marathon in under 5 hours.

Congrats to your husband! That is a major accomplishment. I will be running a marathon in a few months, but so far the longest distance I have run is 7.2 miles. I felt pretty good other than feeling like I was too hot. I've learned that I overheat on longer runs and should wear something that seems too cold and then I'll be fine. This week I'll be running 8 miles though.

Wow. That is a very long distance to run. I have never ran that far before. I have run around the high school track but that is about it. I just do not have the duration for it anymore.

I ran one 5k. And that is the only one I ever did...with my whole family...and it felt good to do the running.....and when I trained it felt good the whole time...it actually got addicting! If something bothered me I would run....etc.
