This day brought a lot of good things for me, but also a lot of new challenges too. The first good thing was it was the last time my supervisor would visit me. So, I had a lesson planned for the day and brought materials. When I was in the teacher's lounge before classes started, and my supervisor came, one of the teachers, not mine, brought in a island Christmas cd. It was fun to listen to and everyone danced to it. The morning exercises went well and fast. The students were on their best behavior because there was another adult in the room. Next, we had a quick breakfast and brushed teeth. While the children did this I set up my lesson, which was to listen to a short story on cd and then have them draw a picture of their favorite part. It didn't work out well, because many children didn't understand what I wanted, but I explained it twice. Also, many children just zoned out because they wanted to see the pictures, which is standard procedure there when reading a story. I also didn't know they had read the story before. So, most of the pictures they drew had nothing to do with the story, but a few children drew nice picture that related to the story. The supervisor left, and she told me she liked my lesson and I had good classroom mangement skills. Then we did learning centers and the kids made a mess. Most of the kids started to help the aid who was putting up the tree. However, they got yelled at from dropping the ornaments. Next, they had lunch and napped. The teacher left to go to a conference and I had lunch. After nap, we put the cots away and I used the cd player to do large movement time. The kids tried to pull some fast one, though, because it was just me and the aid at the end of the day. When it was time to leave, we helped some of the kids, who needed it, put on their coats and scarves. One girl cried about not being able to wear her gloves.
